  3. 3. 3 What is PMP… • A professional credential for Projects offered by PMI • Its accredited by the American National Standard Institute(ANSI) against the International organization for Standardization (ISO) 17024. • PMP Credential is also registered against the ISO 9001:2008 standard for QMS. • Similar to PMP, PMI offers many other credential like CAPM,PgMP etc.

  7. 7. 7 Assessment Criteria A Candidate is assessed by examining his or her competence using  Reviewing Education and Experience – A combination of education and/or experience in project management is required for certification.  Testing competence – The candidate is required to apply project management concepts and experience to potential on-the-job situations through a series of scenario-based questions.  Ongoing Development – Maintenance of a PMI certification requires the accumulation of ongoing Professional Development and Education.
  8. 8. 8 Timeline of the PMP Application Credential Process Application Submission You have 90 days to complete the application once you started it. Application Completeness Review 5 Days (When Submitted Online) Applicant Payment Process (You cannot schedule exam until you submit payment of credential fees) Audit Process (If your application is selected) You have 90 days to send your Audit Material PMI Processes audit materials in 5-7 days (The eligibility period begins upon successful completion of the audit) Multiple-Choice Examination Eligibility 1 Year From the date of the application approval You can take the exam up to 3 times during this 1 year Certification Cycle Your Certification Cycle Begins The day you pass the exam and are bestowed the credential. Credential Maintenance 3 Years You are required to earn and report 60 Professional Development Units PDUs- within this 3-year cycle. Credential Renewal You can complete the renewal process once you have earned and reported 60 PDUs per the requirements and submit renewal fees. Credential Suspension 1 year period Occurs on the 3rd anniversary of the day you passed the exam if you have not fulfilled the Continuing Certification Requirements towards credential maintenance and renewal. Credential Expiration Occurs at the end of your suspension period if you did not fulfill the Continuing Certification Requirements towards credential maintenance and renewal. If you wish to hold the credential again, you need to reapply.

  11. 11. 11 About Exam  Computer-based testing (CBT) is the standard method of administration for PMI examination.  Duration of examination - 4 hours  There are no scheduled breaks during the exam.  Exam is preceded by an 15 minutes of tutorial.  200 objective type questions.  175 questions for scoring and the rest 25 for validating future examination questions.  Exams are online and are conducted at Prometric centers only.  Nearest prometric center for us is Borivali, Mumbai.
  12. 12. 12 Some Important Tips for Exam....  Answer each question from PMI perspective, not the perspective we have acquired from our real world and/or life experience.  Make sure, you have not only read the question but identified the actual question.  Read all four choices carefully before you select the answer  There may be more than one “Correct” answer to each question, but only one “Best” answer.  Be careful on distracters.
  13. 13. 13 Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) Program  Once PMP credential is obtained, one need to participate in CCR program to maintain an active certification status.  The PMP Certification cycle lasts for three years.  During this period one need to earn 60 professional development units (PDU) towards credential maintenance.  PDU categories fall into two divisions.
