Unveiling the Future: Columbus, Ohio Condominiums Through the Lens of 3D Arch...

1. Interior Architecture and Design
Designing spaces; I believe that
an interior design should
incorporate the customer’s
needs, but should also
go way beyond that. It
should inspire. It
should create an
environment that
completely changes
one’s state of mind
and which shepherds
exceptional experiences.
If a completed interior space complete with automation and impactful lighting
doesn’t make customers and guests stop in their tracks at least once and say,
“wow” out loud, I’m not satisfied.
2. The “Man Cave”
“Man Caves”: They’re more
popular than ever. What
could be better than having a
dedicated space for a man to
be a man with his friends,
to hang out with friends
and enjoy “guy time”.
Starting with an unfinished
garage, this conceptual man
cave has been transformed
into a warm and inviting space
while retaining the elements
of being a workshop on many
levels.

concepts with a contemporary look and feel. The plan also includes significant
electrical enhancements, low-voltage pathways, integrated LED and DMX lighting
and fog effects, ample storage space, under-floor sensors, automation,
insulation with gas heat, power lifts, winches on gantries, and full plumbing and
refrigeration.
This is a custom space that
focuses on several of the
customer’s hobbies rather than
the typical wet bar/TV
arrangement. Catering to the
musician and tool/car
enthusiast, this environment
folds in elements from these
4. The“ManCave”
The end-result is a warm and
friendly work space
complete with 3D printer
stations, a dual-zone fridge,
dramatic full-color animated
lighting, an integrated
recording studio with hidden
electronics and yet
productivity-minded.
5. The “Woman Cave”
I was approached by a customer and asked to
draw up designs for a basement plan, specifically
designed to meet the wants of his wife.
It features a fully-
appointed “day spa”
slash luxury reading
room fit for the finest
of entertainment or
social engagements.
The project was termed,
“The Woman Cave”.
6. To create a space that was both appealed as a feminine retreat, but which was
comfortable for anyone’s use, I designed in high-end materials, contemporary
lines, indirect lighting and space definition while sticking to the classic
amenities. Included are a sauna, a sexyglass shower stall, a “juice” bar, an
integrated couch, storage, a separate powder room, and an integrated library
with a fireplace.

render illustrates
the indirect lighting
coupled with the
“faux vase” lighting
within the upper
book shelves over
the fireplace.
Natural cherry with
maple accents are
featured throughout.
Ample use of glass
materials serve both to
allow light to flow
through the space while
casting dramatic
highlights throughout.
Nearly all of the lighting
is indirect save several
spots over the bar and
reading sofa.

8. CabinetDesign
Old media spaces from the “pre-flat-screen” days make perfect storage
areas; however, so often it seems people just tend to stuff the open
areas with piles of junk. I like to see these turned into either classic or
contemporary storage areas, while still incorporating a flat-screen TV,
using the space behind for audio equipment including subwoofers and
hidden electronics. I like to use concealed hinges, stained glass and low-
voltage color lighting to bring it all together in a nice overall package.
9. CabinetDesign/CNC
Above, a gourmet kitchen I drafted including
ample cabinet space, dual dishwashers, and
a center island sink.
A quick revisit to the “Man Cave”
mentioned earlier highlights some
of the CNC routed signage. These
are
set with standardized mount
configurations so they are
interchangeable with other signs
when rearrangement becomes
necessary.
11. Sometimes the best approach is “Old School with a New Twist”. I like to
design and incorporate contemporary stained glass works in many of my
designs. Watching colors dance throughout the day as the sun, possibly
shining through leaves of an aspen, plays with the spectrum in the most
wonderful ways…these works speak for themselves.
StainedGlass
12. Even when the natural hues and values with stained glass are not attainable for
whatever reason, I still like to work with color, scenes and lighting animation to get
the most out of a structure’s lines.
LEDColorLighting
13. I have a drive for design on many levels ranging from interior design and cabinetry
to dramatic architectural lighting. My extensive work with providing turnkey
(“idea-to-product”) solutions in the worlds of software, firmware, electronics,
hardware, and many disciplines within engineering applications affords me an
enormous body of knowledge and skill in getting someone out of the starting gate
and on to production with their ideas.
One of the many areas in which I’ve applied this concept is in interior design,
environmental design and “real-world” special effects, whether permanent or
temporary as in the case of events, displays or trade shows.
