BIOMETRIC SENSOR
The Science of Biometrics applied to Retail
1.0 Biometric Sensor
Considerations
The strong competitiveness of the retail market, enforces companies to invest
in sofisticated communication campaigns and marketing.
The complexity in defining the target audience and the model approach,
transform promotion activities in real bets.
The first reason for the success of a product has always been its capability to
adapt to the real desires of the target. The exponential increase of the
communication channels cause a constant growth of advertising investments,
making any failure increasingly expensive.

1.1 THE PROJECT
Support with technology the world of traditional Retail while all are
moving towards online solutions. Answer the need of established
brands to enhance their visibility on traditional markets.
1.2 THE OBJECTIVE
Bring in the physical store the same shopping experience that is lived
online. Maximize the propension to buy, and bring the Buy by Click
purchase from the virtual world to the physical world

Bring the "awareness" within the physical store, so that it is more instrumented,
interconnected, intelligent and aware of what is happening inside
1.3 STRATEGY
In-Store Solution
1.0 Biometric Sensor
Living a 360 °shopping experience by bringing the senses to interact with the
external environment helps us to develop an awareness of what surrounds us:
Verify customer’s reactions to new products, packaging and promotions.
Understand what is the best placement for a specific brand within a given
category.
Define what marketing strategy and merchandising is effective in increasing
sales. Check the visual impact of a window or a floor stand.
Determine the best communication techniques and the most effective product
placements for sale.
Adapt the contents of communications based on the characteristics of the
effective audience. The real-time detection allow immediate reactions.
Test the effectiveness of the resources invested in advertising and in one to one
communication.

1.0 Biometric Sensor
A biometric recognition system is a
computer system that has the purpose
of measuring, by means of algorithms, a
person on the basis of one or more
biological and / or behavioral
characteristics.
2.1 BIOMETRICS
Biometric Sensor
1.0 Biometric Sensor
The biometric sensors applied to retail
are used to analyze the characteristics of
people in the store and to gather
specific information about the
morphology of individuals during their
shopping experience.

2.3 CONSIDERATIONS
Knowing only the number of visitors who came into a store without further
demographic information, provides only a partial view of the situation.
To detect people who enter the store is only of less value if the visitors are not
segmented on the basis of entrances and exits, or if they are the staff of the
store.
For example, counting the people who enter a store for women's underwear
does not mean much if you do not separate the accompanying male partner.
1.0 Biometric Sensor
Biometric Sensor
2.4 THE SYSTEM
Thanks to sensors and advanced software, the system allows us to understand
how customers move in a store, highlighting the busiest routes and the time
they spend in certain areas.
The accurate survey of the number of customers, the main stopping points or
the involvement generated by a corner, allows you to measure the success of
marketing and sales campaigns.
The measurements can be segmented by single store, by region or by country.
The data are collected in real time and they support the decision on possible
countermeasures, should the results highlighted by the measurements not
correspond to the expectations.

2.5 THE VALUE OF THE DATA
The simple data collection alone has a low significance in the process of
enhancing the customer. The real value lies in the analysis of the information
gathered and in the actions made as a consequence of this analysis:
Enhancement of Conversion Rates (visitors vs cash bills ratio) by providing the
employees with targeted incentives.
Savings in personnel’s cost by optimizing the necessary store personnel.
Check of the actual use of the available retail space by the brand, report
attendance / sqm. The system allows to check whether the real estate
investment to be allocated to areas in prestigious locations is justified by a
profitable Conversion rate.

The monitoring of customer profiles allows us to understand how they move
also even within large commercial structures? Can be defined which are the
shops visited, in what order, taking advantage of mobility mechanisms (such
as lifts, elevators, stairs, sidewalks furniture), by whom. The monitoring is
completely anonymous and can also be used to analyze the cause-effect
relationship between two contact points.

System Versions
Several versions of the Biometric solutions have been designed to meet
the various needs of the market. Depending on the customer’s
objectives, the most appropriate solution is designed, to ensure the
highest return from the collected information.
