Bribie
Island
Perfect for: Sunsets with beachy vibes or glorious
mountains.
Locations: Head to the jetty on the calm side of
Pumicestone Passage on the Bribie Island esplanade or
catch the sunseting behind the Glass House Mountains.
Tips: Find a friend to pose for a silhouette shot or wait for
the epic colours to appear just after the sun has set.

Redcliffe
Perfect for: Perspective along the
jetty at sunrise and sunset.
Location: Woody Point Jetty has the
best sunsets. You get a sweet view
over the bay to the west which is
pretty rare on the eastern side of
Australia. For something different,
check out the Wreck as well.
Tips: Use the jetty's lines to get a
perspective shot. Also keep an eye
out for people fishing. The warm
hues of the wreck create a super hot
contrast with the ocean and sand as
well.

Shorncliffe
Perfect for: Sunsets at the Shorncliffe Jetty.
Location: Park Parade, Shorncliffe (through Moora Park).
Tips: Get some distance from the jetty and use the
horizontal lines or get up close and personal to get
perspective shots.

Nudgee
Beach
Perfect for: Reflections and cool patterns
in the sand at low tide at sunrise.
Location: Nudgee Beach, Nudgee Road
in Nudgee. From the car park head along
the board walk for the beach or bird hide.
Tips: Use the mangrove trees popping
up as a point of interest in the wriggly
sand at low tide or use people to get
some reflections or perspective in the
landscape shot.
Nudgee Beach is also an awesome place
to take your dogs so keep an eye out for
furry four-legged types after sunrise.

Somerset

Perfect for: Reflections across the Lake
at sunset featuring the one and only
Mount Samson!
Location: Access Lake Samsonvale
from Winn Road or Golds Scrub Lane.
There are loads of other great vantage
points to see the sights of Samsonvale,
Lake Samsonvale and Mount Samson
as well!
Tips: The Lake itself is the perfect spot
for cloudy reflections. There are solo
trees to use in the foreground around
the lake, but don't miss the hefty
mountains in the background as well.

Somerset

Perfect for: Sunsets and country
feels.
Location: Kilcoy Farmstay, country
valleys or around Lake Somerset.
Tips: Keep your eyes peeled for
sweeping valleys and mountains or
farms with windmills. Lake Somerset
has plenty of reflection opportunities
as well.

Kangaroo
Point
Perfect for: Sunsets, cityscapes and steel wool
spinning after dark.
Location: Kangaroo Point has LOADS of great
spots. From the Kangaroo Point Cafe or the
Rotunda meeting point, wander towards the city
at the top of the rocks or head down the stairs for
rocks, river action and watch rock climbers as the
sun sets across the river city.
Tips: Get set a bit before sunset so you can fit in a
few different spots as the sun goes down. Use
the bougainvillea at the top of the rocks or perch
onto the rock face (safety first!). There are loads
of opportunities for steel wool spinning closer to
the river so take the stairs down after dark.

South
Bank

Perfect for: Sunsets and cityscapes into the
evening.
Location: There are loads of good spots around
South Bank. Catch a silhouette of the city
buildings from the river walk or keep an eye out
for festivals and fireworks. The Brisbane Wheel
looks awesome at dusk, too. South Bank Beach
is a great spot to get a feel for how
Queenslanders cool off in the summer months
and is great for reflections.
Tips: Check the events calendar to see what's on
around South Bank. There's festivals, markets,
outdoor movies and fireworks which are fun to
shoot.

Wilson's
Outlook
Perfect for: Sunsets and cityscapes.
Location: Wilsons Lookout Reserve, Bowen Tce (near
corner of Bowen Street), New Farm.
Tips: This is a great spot to highlight the sparkly Story
Bridge and Brisbane city at dusk all year round, but if
you're in Brisbane for Riverfire or New Year's Eve, you
have to see the city from this pimping spot.

Bridges of
Brisbane
Perfect for: Sunset across the river and cityscapes.
Location: Actually shoot from the Story Bridge, Goodwill or Kurilpa Bridges
or head to Kangaroo Point Cliffs or Wilson's Outlook for some stunning
sunset angles.
Tips: The lights on some of the bridges change regularly, so you'll always
shoot something different. And one word: Riverfire! Don't forget some
sneaky vino and cheese to really make the most of this one!

Mount
Coot-tha
Perfect for: Sunrise city views.
Location: Head to the Mount Coot-
tha lookout on the top of the hill for
a fab view of the city and surrounds.
Tips: It's important to be in your
sunrise spot at least 15 to 20
minutes before the sunrises. If you
want to get the adrenalin pumping
beforehand, why not walk or cycle
up?

Mount Gravatt
Lookout
Perfect for: Sunrise city views.
Location: Take the Mount Gravatt
Outlook Drive from Logan Road or
hike up the mountain to get a sweat
up before the sunrise shoot.
Tips: Keep an eye out for cool cloud
formations above the city or use the
trees and bushes to create some
interest in the foreground or to frame
your shot.

Parklands
Perfect for: Sunset reflections across
Minnippi Lagoon (featuring ducks!).
Location: Minnippi Parklands, Stanton
Road West, Tingalpa.
Tips: Minnippi Parklands is a great
spot to stop for a picnic and
photography break on a walk or cycle
along the Bulimba Creek Bikeway
path. Keep an eye out for hot
reflections on the Lagoon and birds
making the most of the location at
sunset.

Wynnum
& Manly
Perfect for: Sunrise or sunset across
the Boat Harbour.
Location: Manly Boat Harbour along
Royal Esplanade is great. Try the
Manly Jetty or waterfront between
Wynnum and Manly (especially at low
tide).
Tips: The boats lining the marina are
stunning, especially when the water is
calm and the reflections are
everywhere. While you're out this
way, try one of the many fish and chip
takeaways and get stuck in!

Point &
Cleveland

Perfect for: Sunsets across the water.
Location: Wellington Point Esplanade. Check out
Wellington Point Jetty at the end of the Esplanade. If
you're closer to Cleveland, take a look-see at the Light
House and old jetty. One of the best spots in Brisbane!
Tips: Keep an eye out for kite surfers and canoe or
kayak crews. The jetty is great for strong lines and
perspective, while the solo mangroves add a bit of
interest at low tide as well.

Victoria
Point,
Redlands
Perfect for: Sunsets across the
Redlands.
Location: Either Wilson's
Esplanade or Thompson's
Beach, Victoria Point.
Tips: Reflections are pretty
special at Victoria Point. Use the
trees, sand and moored boats
as your points of interest.

Moreton
Island
Perfect for: Sunrise and sunset spots a
plenty around the Island!
Location: For the best sunrises, head to
Cape Moreton or anywhere along the
eastern beach. Later in the day, head to the
western beaches for some epic sunsets. Try
silhouettes of the Wrecks just north of
Tangalooma or Bulwer Wrecks. If you want
to see the Glasshouse Mountains, head to
Comboyuru Point or the northern end of
Moreton Island. Get a sweat up as you
climb Big Sandhills in the south for another
aspect.
Tips: Use the lines of the sand at low tide,
reflections on the lakes, lagoons and
ocean and silhouettes of people and the
beach highway crew (4WDs
baby!).

Tangalooma
Resort, Moreton
Island

North
Stradbroke
Island
Perfect for: Straddie is an all rounder
with super hot sunrises on the eastern
side and chilled out, colourful sunsets
on the western beaches.
Location: Try Amity Point for sunrise or
Cylinder Beach for fishing silhouettes
at sunset. Other 'go to' spots include
Adder Rock, Frenchmans and
Deadmans beaches and Point Lookout.
Tips: The jetty is a great spot to get a
little perspective and keep an eye out
for beach goers and fishing crews for
some hot silhouettes.

Lockyer Valley
Perfect for: Perfect excuse for a
Sunday afternoon drive into the
sunset.
Location: From Brisbane, head
west from the M2 to the A2. There
are loads of farms on either side of
the highway. For some sweeping
views, check out the Schultz
Lookout.
Tips: @imlee_ says to leave the
highway and explore the side
roads. That's where the beauty is!

valley below Mount Tamborine.
Location: Hang-glider lookout, Tamborine Mountain.
Tips: Keep an eye out for hang gliders and hot air
balloons at sunrise or sunset silhouettes and star trails
after dark. @aussiestompy says to make sure you
scout your location beforehand. Planning is everything!
