Step four – editingStructural Edits Logical Edits All sentences end with . ! ?  The topic sentence is strongand easy to understand. All sentences have a subjectand verb; subject-verbagreement (I go, she goes) The introduction is interesting tothe reader. The first word of every sentence,proper names, andabbreviations are capitalized.Check for problems with I, it, if,in, and is. The title is clear, strong, relatedto the paragraph. Each new paragraph isindented. Every sentence is directlyrelated to the topic sentence. There are no fragments orclauses without sentences.Check any sentence that startswith Because, Since, or So to becertain it is okay. Facts, statistics, and otherfactual data have the sourcelisted (According to the OxfordInternational Dictionary…) Plural nouns are used whenreferring to general things. (I likekittens. Students need tostudy.) Details are interesting andrelated to the topic. They’re, their, there are all usedcorrectly. The supporting ideas arearranged in the best order(strongest last, chronological,etc) For example, for instance, like,and such as are used correctly. The conclusion has a summaryof the main ideas. Adjectives and nouns are notconfused.
