  2. 2.  Angle: Social Accountability through citizen engagement hence grounding our basis on Social Watch. Understand how to make it easier for citizens to engage with the state. Understand the interconnection between our local situation, regional and global front in transparency and accountability
  3. 3. SODNET trusts that the workshop will: Improve the workings and connections of the EAC and Social Watch activities. Enable us appreciate civic qualities that enrich democratic experiences.
  4. 4.  An international network for poverty reduction and promotion of gender equality. National coalitions build strategic relationships to promote efforts and connect with the global level. Coalition members connect and share stories via E-mail list, Weekly E-News letter, Website, social Media. Social Watch annual reports are the main tools for advocacy at National, regional and international levels.
  5. 5.  Background and thinking behind Huduma Captures citizen voices, connecting them directly to the person in charge. Ensures we identify gaps within the system for improved citizen access to quality services. 90% strategy (strategic relationships, effective channels and identifying bottlenecks).10% technology/tool

The Situation When citizens are informed they act. Civil Society is critical in advocating for change. Even in situations of poverty, people will still save some money for phone airtime. Technical tools are pertinent in present day. People are use mobile phones more than other media tool.
  7. 7.  Public Planning Implementation Monitoring and Advocacy Framework (PPIMA). Role is to hold government into account of their duty. To support citizens and civil society in advocacy. Clip on situation of participatory budget process in Rwanda.Recommendations Introduce the respective organizations to Huduma Promote East African framework partnership.
  8. 8.  Transparency is operating in such a way that it is easy for others to see what actions are performed. Accountability is concept used synonymously with responsibility, answerability blameworthiness and liability. Initiative of Uganda has put in place to promote transparency and accountability
  9. 9.  A space designed for young people to express themselves through media tools and channels as well as visual and performing arts culture. Promote ways of consolidating voices and experiences of young people. Speak Africa produced a booklet to brief the young 13th Ordinary Summit of the AU Investing in Agriculture for Economic Growth And Food Security and latest issues on Agriculture.
  10. 10.  We endeavour to make use of S.W Comm. tools to promote visibility of organizations. Civil Society need to converge, promote a strong front to strengthen in-country collaboration. Advocacy messages should be consistent and backed with evidence. Documentation of evidence of change directs towards effective strategy.
  11. 11. Key Points The potential of Huduma enables researchers to build the local capacity and in documentation through reports. As much as we want to hear the voices of citizens, we should be ready to modify our thinking
