Role of Local Authorities in relation to illegal dumping Local Authorities Responsibilities  To take all practical measures to prevent, control, and dispose of litter and illegal dumping  Promote awareness of pollution and its effect  Encourage public participation – prevention and overcoming litter pollution  Provide facilities and arrange for regular emptying and cleaning.  Enforce the law and apply the penalties and legal sanctions.
