  2. 2. Current Practice – Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Bathing Water Sampled at 9 locations: Blackrock Baths Shore Seapoint Sandycove Beach Gardens Dun Laoghaire Forty Foot Colliemore Harbour White Rock Killiney Bay Beach Corbawn Strand Corbawn Lane
  3. 3. Problems • Current Water Quality Testing – results not available for up to three days • Paper notices posted at beaches when results are poor • Bathers unsatisfied with information available • Difficult to determine what causes poor results

What We Want • Information on bathing areas available in real-time • Bathers reporting on perceived bathing water quality • Local Authority reporting on recent water quality testing results • Irish Water / LA reporting on recent overflows that may affect each bathing area • Real-time water quality testing?

Information Sources • Application Users reporting on Bathing Experience & perceived Water Quality – collected feedback • Local Authority reporting on recent water quality testing results – Available from Beaches.ie or Local Authority • Irish Water / LA reporting on recent overflows that may affect each Bathing Area • Real-time water quality testing?
  6. 6. Information on Pressures/Pollution Sources • We currently receive information re. 9 overflows from the Drainage Dept. in DLR (Irish Water) • Currently real-time data sent from only one overflow • There are approx. 30 overflows that may affect Bathing Water Quality
  7. 7. Tips If new technology e.g. sensors or new types of water quality testing are being proposed, indicative costs should be provided
