Solution to the weekly extreme Str8ts puzzle #35 from www.str8ts.com

  • An x-wing means that the number (8) has to appear twice in the marked area. Either F8=8 then E9=8 or F9=8 then E8=8. In both cases all other 8s are removed from the columns 8 and 9. Hence 8 gets removed both in G8 & G9. With G4=6 this directly leads to G8=5 and G9=4.

  • I don't understand the Xwing on 8 at EF89: E8 could be 7 - and then E7=9, E9=8. So 8 is not a sure candidate in E8. Or did I make a mistake?
