The company is structured around two activities: Tools for the creation of microcontroller applications (compilers, debuggers and programmers). Advanced laboratory tools for test and validation of smart cards and readers. Raisonance teams with partners to develop their devices: KeyOx (industrial and mechanical design). Microcontrollers µcontrollers are high tech devices: Implement µcontrollers implies high level competencies (electronic & software design...). purchase decision is made by skilled tech guys. µcontroller samples are useless : They need at least a power unit and a minimum User Interface to get alive. µcontrollers are hard to distinguish from performances or capabilities point of view. Still µcontrollers manufacturers have to promote their products ! 06 october 2009 9
  14. 14. Demo boards Demo boards (eval boards) are a must have for vendors µcontroller test (& implementation) require software development tools: Compilers and debuggers are keys to access µcontroller’s top performances. Demo boards are delivered with basic software tools. 06 october 2009 10
  15. 15. Demo boards limits Demo boards are all looking the same: Bare PCB with chips, buttons, LEDs and connectors. Supplied software allow only low level programming, yet providing access to large libraries. 06 october 2009 11

  36. 36. Primer U project: the objective STM32 Primer and STM32 Primer2 were dedicated to promote STM32 family of 32-bit Flash µcontroller based on the ARM Cortex-M3 core. Raisonance acquired experience and notoriety. Raisonance development tools are suited for all Cortex-M3 based µcontrollers. The objective : design a platform for Cortex-M3 Primer and deliver all the vendors of such µcontrollers. 06 october 2009 27
  37. 37. Primer U project: Raisonance a pace ahead competition Experience in designing quite simple but complete product, mixing electronic/ industrial/mechanical design. Low cost means close partnership and deep understanding across electronic/industrial/ mechanical design and supply chain competencies. Low cost (usually) means high volumes, high volumes means high NRE (molds, test & assembly tooling ...). Economy downturn is not a good timing to go for a risky project, without experience.   38. 38. Primer U project: the concept / user point of view µcontrollers are to be implemented on a plug-able daughter board. Circle OS and software development tools will be delivered with Primer U with no extra charge. Advanced and various user interface capabilities will allow prototyping a large range of electronic devices (joystick, touch- screen, accelerometer, SD card reader, audio in/out capabilities…). Primer U will be equipped with an extension port for connecting specific application boards (tools and guidelines to design application boards will be available). The primer U will be a prototyping platform dedicated to electronic devices developers with µcontrollers benchmark capabilities. 06 october 2009 29

Primer U project: the concept / vendor point of view µcontrollers vendors will take advantage in shared NRE (Non-recurring engineering). µcontrollers manufacturers will have the opportunity to deliver their own (customized version of) Primer U. Primer U will offer different levels of customization to meet vendors objectives, capabilities, NRE and unit price target: Electronic features on µcontroller daughter board (sensors, additional display…). Custom casing, marking, finishing at reduced extra charge (by design). µcontrollers vendors will take advantage of platform-based promotion tool with different customization levels. 06 october 2009 30
