CARS • car-loving nation • Austria boasts an excellent road network • bigger cities suffer from severe parking availability problems • Spaces are scarce and prohibitively expensive • time you are allowed to park for is usually around 90 minutes. • Drivers need to carry all safety kits, or else they would be fined Air links • All of Austria's major cities including Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz and Klagenfurt and Vienna have their own international airports. • Austrian Airlines, Austria's national carrier, serves all of the above cities and connects Austria with many international destinations. • There are now a range of low cost carriers which connect Vienna, Linz and Bratislava to a number of European destinations e.g. AirBerlin, Fly Niki, Ryanair, Sky Europe and German Wings.

  10. 10. German is Austria's official language and, according to the 2015 census, it is spoken natively by 88.6% of the population The official language used in education, publications, announcements and websites is German, which is mostly identical to the German used in Germany but with some vocabulary differences Turkish (2.3%), Bosnian (2.2%), Serbian (1.9%), English (0.7%), Hungarian (0.5%), Croatian (0.4%), Polish (0.4%), Albanian (0.3%), Slovenian (0.3%), Czech (0.2%), Arabic (0.2%) and Romanian (0.2%) come after AUSTRIA.
  11. 11. Besides football, Austria also has professional national leagues for most major team sports, including the Austrian Hockey League for ice hockey, and the Basketball for basketball. Horseback riding is also popular.
