What Should You Do First? <ul><li>Decide what kind of job that you want. </li></ul><ul><li>Decide what major you need for that job (The Advising and Counseling Center can help with that). </li></ul><ul><li>Find 3 or 4 schools to apply to, including a dream and a safety net school. </li></ul>

Choosing the Right School! <ul><li>The IP Transfer Wagon has lots of information! </li></ul><ul><li>US News Rankings </li></ul><ul><li>Talk to other students </li></ul><ul><li>Use the internet, www.collegesource.org , www.petersons.com </li></ul><ul><li>Choose by location, weather, size of city, cost, public/private, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Visit Schools and Attend Transfer Fairs. </li></ul>

How do you Transfer? <ul><li>Start researching early! </li></ul><ul><li>Plan well! </li></ul><ul><li>Take transferable classes. </li></ul><ul><li>Know the general education requirements and prerequisites for your universities. </li></ul><ul><li>Get involved, volunteer, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Your GPA is your ticket to University! </li></ul>

When Should You Apply? <ul><li>Some schools only accept students at the Junior Level (90) transferable credits </li></ul><ul><li>November 30 th-- California Schools </li></ul><ul><li>January 15 th— UW </li></ul><ul><li>January 31 st –WSU—but earlier for scholarships </li></ul><ul><li>Feb 1 st— Indiana University </li></ul><ul><li>March 1 st —Seattle University </li></ul><ul><li>April 1 st –WWU and CWU </li></ul>

What do you need to apply? <ul><li>You may need all or some of the following: </li></ul><ul><li>Online application </li></ul><ul><li>TOEFL or Michigan test (UW) </li></ul><ul><li>HS Transcripts </li></ul><ul><li>SCC/all college transcripts </li></ul><ul><li>Personal Statement </li></ul><ul><li>Application fee </li></ul><ul><li>Bank statement </li></ul><ul><li>Financial Agreement </li></ul>
