Teachertube 2

 1. 1. A teacher’s website: “ for all your instructional needs”
 2. 2.

After beta testing for almost two months, TeacherTube officially launched on March 6, 2007.

The goals of teachertube:

The goal is to provide an online community for sharing instructional videos. They seek to fill a need for a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners.

It is a site to provide anytime, anywhere professional development with teachers teaching teachers. As well, it is a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill.

 3. 3.

With TeacherTube, community members can:

Upload, tag and share videos worldwide.

Upload Support Files to attach your educational activities, assessments, lesson plans, notes, and other file formats to your video.

Browse hundreds of videos uploaded by community members.

Find, join and create video groups to connect with people who have similar interests.

 4. 4.

Customize the experience by subscribing to member videos, saving favorites, and creating playlists.

Integrate TeacherTube videos on websites using video embeds or APIs.

Make videos public or private - users can elect to broadcast their videos publicly or share them privately with those they invite.

 5. 5.

How useful is teachertube?

It has

Lesson plans

Teacher resources

Student activities

Helpful information

Teachers online help

Unit plans

Recommendations

 6. 6.

Yes. The main idea is that, it is designed to assist teachers in their methods of delivery. Teachertube allows other teachers to post work that is beneficial to other teachers whether it is a blog or video that students will be engaged in. Many teachers use the traditionally methods and many students are not motivated.

 7. 7.

Many of us are not technologically aware of the many uses of the web and the sites that can enable us to increase our students knowledge. We are aware that our students surf the web on many occasions but not necessarily for its educational offerings.

It is assumed that if we include their interest in our methods of delivery they would be more interested in their work.

 9. 9.

My suggestions are:

Everyday.

All that is needed can be obtained from teachertube.com lesson plans, teacher guides, student activities, resources and videos that engages those visual learners.

From my observations all lessons are included in this site. It is advised that teachers log in so that they can get information for their classes. It is imperative that we motivate students as much as possible with the use of technology.

 10. 11.

Not all of the computer's characteristics are advantageous. For example, the low cost of electronically stored and displayed text is low cost only after relatively expensive computing equipment has been purchased.

A second problem is quality. However, the computer's major disadvantages are inherent in the characteristics of its displays: it is dependent upon electricity, and its printouts are often difficult to read. Furthermore, the CRT is a limited display device.

 11. 12.

- May be difficult to find a video to cater to your lessons’ need either due to the educational value or level of the lesson (i.e. appropriate for grade levels which are not what you teach)

- You may not be able to upload the video to your school’s website due to video filters, etc.

- Supplemental materials associated with the video may not be worthwhile or may not be present at all

- Advertisements may not be appropriate for your school

- May not have the system requirements to download video

 13. 14.

Not because there are disadvantages this site is still comes highly recommended. It is designed for us teachers and we are the ones who will increase its use and effectiveness. Let us try to improve on its weaknesses as this will be beneficial to s in the future.

Marsha Williams-Hamilton

B.E.S.T.
