August 1st, 2012 Press Note 5th Welcome Ceremony of NIMCJ for the New Batch HeldAhmedabad: 5th Welcome Ceremony of National Institute of MassCommunication and Journalism (NIMCJ) was held in Ahmedabad today.Shri Ajay Umat, Senior Editor-editorial, Times of India was the Chief Guest and theGuest Of Honor was Industrialist Shri Milan Dalal. The ceremony commenced witha prayer by Sem-3 student and lamp lighting by the guests.Chief Guest, Shri Ajay Umat, who is a part of the media industry, referred to MassCommunication field as a challenging, wide and an innovative industry whereeveryday something new, commanding and out of the box happens. He gave anew definition of Journalism “If dog bites a man then it’s not news but if manbites a dog and the dog catches AIDS then its news”.While stating his paradoxical view on the upcoming media industry, heemphasized the importance of diversification and changing with time in theindustry, as it’s necessary to stay with time. He pointed out that Indian MediaIndustry is growing by leaps and bounds and has great opportunities for freshtalent.While bestowing his best wishes to the 5th Batch of the institute, guest of honorShri Milan Dalal encouraged the incoming students to be a valuable part of thegrowing media industry.The occasion ended with the recitation of National Anthem. Dr. Shirish Kashikar,Director of NIMCJ introduced the esteemed guests and the institute. Managingtrustee shri pradip jain & other trustees shri Haresh Thakkar, Shri AshwinbhaiShah,students & parents were remained present.
