  3. 3. 1. Choose your topic <ul><li>Choose a topic that will be of interest to you. Remember, you will be spending a lot of time on this project. If you choose a topic that you are interested in, you are more likely to be successful. </li></ul>
  4. 4. 2. Find basic information <ul><li>Use a general reference source like an encyclopedia to find information about your topic. </li></ul><ul><li>This basic information will help you to generate a research question. </li></ul>
  5. 5. 3. Create a research question <ul><li>Review the previous lesson for information about creating a research question. </li></ul>
  6. 6. 4. Find sources and material. <ul><li>Make sure that you are using reputable sources. You must be especially cautious with web resources. </li></ul><ul><li>One way to ensure that you are getting quality information from the internet is to use an academic database such as ERIC or Ncwiseowl. </li></ul>
  7. 7. 5. Evaluate sources and material <ul><li>Make sure that your sources are credible!! </li></ul>

Evaluate sources and material <ul><li>Make sure that you take good notes while you are reviewing your material. </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure the notes are relevant to your research question. </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure that you cite your sources for all of the information gathered. (Even if you end up not using the information it is better to err on the side of caution. </li></ul>
