  6. 6. A Deeper WalkWhen the disciples asked Jesusto teach them how to pray, Hesaid,"Our Father who art inHeaven, hallowed be thy Name.Thy Kingdom come. Thy willbe done on earth as it is inHeaven. Give us this day ourdaily bread. And, forgive usour trespasses (our debts), as -6-

"(Matthew 6: 9-13).OK, so we know that we are toforgive those who trespassagainst us. We know that we areto ask God to forgive us for ourtrespasses against Him and -7-

  10. 10. All PowerToday, I pray that prayer dailyin agreement with prayerwarriors on the wall over ourtent. I came to the Truth that ifJesus taught His first disciplesto pray this way, that I, adisciple of today, am to pray thesame way. - 10 -
  11. 11. When Jesus sent the disciplesforth in the Great Commissionof Matt. 28: 18-20, And Jesuscame and spake unto them, saying, "All power is givenunto me in heaven and in earth.Go ye therefore, and teach allnations, baptizing them in theName of the Father, and of theSon, and of the Holy Ghost:Teaching them to observe allthings whatsoever I havecommanded you; and, lo, I Am - 11 -

Luke tells us in hisgospel, in chapter twenty-four,verse forty-eight and forty-nine,when Jesus is speaking to Hisdisciples after He had eaten fishand honeycomb with His - 12 -

And, behold Isend the promise of my Fatherupon you: but tarry ye in thecity of Jerusalem, until ye beendued with power from onhigh."high."Luke also is the writer of Acts, and chapter One, verse Eight, herepeats what Jesus said, "But ye - 13 -
  14. 14. shall receive power, after theHoly Ghost is come upon you:and ye shall be witnesses untome both in Jerusalem, and inall Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part ofthe earth." earth."All three of the above scripturesrefer to Jesus having all power, and of His disciples receivingthat power, after the Holy Ghostis come upon them. - 14 -
  15. 15. For what purpose is the power? To be witnesses in ourJerusalem, our Judaea, ourSamaria, and to the uttermostpart of the earth from us. Whatdoes a witness do?Preach the good news of thegospel and teach whatsoever theLord has commanded us to doin His Word. What did one haveto do to receive power? He/shehad to tarry until he/she was - 15 -
  16. 16. endued with power to be awitness. - 16 -
  17. 17. Sup With MeThus, here is the place ofquandary throughout the Lord’sChurch! You know, I used towonder how to walk in the spirit.I wanted to be like Jesus, but Ididn’t want to do what it took toget there. I read a lot about Him,and I went to a lot of meetingsboth in church, in homes, atconferences, etc. I had a lot ofthings not to do, but I did not - 17 -
  18. 18. have an intimate walkingtalking relationship with myLord and Savior.Though, His Word says, that Hewill come and sup with me —that He no longer will call meservant but friend — I justdidn’t know how to get fromwhere I was to where I wantedto be.I prayed and asked God to do - 18 -
  19. 19. things for me, but He hadalready done it all! Jesus hadalready died for me andforgiven all my sins and healedall my diseases. I had to learn toaccept what was done.In the gospel of John, whenHe’s sending the disciples forthat the end of that gospel,Chapter 20: 21-23. - 19 -
  20. 20. It is another account of the samemeeting after the cross, "Thensaid Jesus to them again,Peace be unto you: as myFather has sent me, even sosend I you. And when He hadsaid this, He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receiveye the Holy Ghost:Whosesoever sins ye remit, theyare remitted unto them; andwhosesoever sins you retain, they are retained." retained." - 20 -
  21. 21. Now, let’s go back to what wefondly call the Lord’s Prayer! And, forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive those whotrespass against us. Let us lookat that little two letter word as.Jesus clearly says to hisdisciples to pray, Father,Forgive us as we forgive thosewho trespass against us. us. - 21 -
  22. 22. (Matthew 6: 12).In fact, verses fourteen andfifteen says, "For if ye forgivemen their trespasses, yourheavenly Father will alsoforgive you. But if ye forgivenot men their trespasses, neither will your Fatherforgive you your trespasses." trespasses." - 22 -
  23. 23. Freely I GiveSo, if I was Jesus’ disciple oftoday, forgive others that havehurt me or defiled me or painedme in any way theirtransgressions against me, then, and only then, will my Fatherforgive me of my transgressionsagainst Him and anyone else. That is a very sobering thought. If I am not willing to let go and - 23 -
  24. 24. forgive — and I mean like Jesusforgave me — burying my sinsin the sea of forgetfulness —not holding it against mesomewhere down the road–reminding me that I am asinner — but washing me whiteas snow — redeeming me. Theremission of sin that is spokenabout is the forgiving of —wiping it out. Delivered! Sinsgone! - 24 -
  25. 25. Now, let’s go back and look atJohn’s gospel again, chapter 20,where Jesus says,"Whosesoever sins I remit areremitted and whosoever sins Iretain are retained. Remitmeans forgive." forgive."Remission means forgiveness.Oh me, Lord, You have chosenfor me to be in this marvelousplan of redemption — not onlyto be forgiven — but to forgive. - 25 -
  26. 26. As You so wonderfully put it,Freely you have received, therefore, I freely give. Whatcan I freely give? Everythingyou’have given me.You never intended for only theOld-testament saints to impartblessings, but you intended forus — not only new testamentsaints — but last-days saints toimpart blessings. Abraham - 26 -
  27. 27. blessed his — Isaac his — andJacob all his. Then, all the writers of the NewTestament blessed their readers— first the gospels with Jesus’last Word to His disciples, andthen, Peter, and Paul, etc., to thechurch in the various places. The Lord says, we are to blesseach other! We are to love eachother! We are to serve each - 27 -
  28. 28. other! We are to forgive eachother! Jesus came that we mighthave life — and life abundantly! - 28 -
  29. 29. Let Them GoRecently, the Lord gave me avery clear picture ofunforgiveness.First, He showed me the grave— you know — our baptism isa picture of our new walk.We are buried in the waterygrave in our trespasses and sins, but we don’t stay there. We are - 29 -
  30. 30. raised to walk in the newness ofJesus’ life.Galatians 2:20 says, "We arecrucified with Christ. It is nolonger us who live, but Christlives in us; and the life that wenow live in the flesh we live byfaith in the Son of God, wholoved us and gave Himself forus."us." - 30 -
  31. 31. Then, the Lord showed me whatI look like when I don’t forgive. When someone hurts ordisappoints me and I continue toremember it like it justhappened, or even if it seems okand then something reminds meand it hurts all over again.I saw myself walking aroundwith a dead carcass attached tome. - 31 -
  32. 32. It was me, but the unforgivenessI carried was dead and attachedto me. In other words, I stink tohigh heaven when I’munforgiving. Is that a disgusting sight or what?Imagine how many carcasseswe might have attached to us atany given time.If I am to walk in theforgiveness Jesus paid for my - 32 -
  33. 33. sins, then I must forgive otherswith the same forgiveness Heforgives me. Not only am I setfree when He forgives me, I setothers free with the forgivenessHe’s freely given me. When weask what would Jesus do —WWJD?We need to ask what did Jesusdo — WDJD? Jesus died that Imight have life and lifeabundantly. I am crucified with - 33 -
  34. 34. Him. It is no longer me thatlives but Christ in me.The life I live in the flesh, I liveby faith in the Son of God wholoved me and gave His life forme. If it is Christ living in me,then, would He hold the sinsand trespasses against people —no, He would forgive — letthem go. - 34 -
