What is Foursquare?<br />Location based social networking site<br />Accessed by mobile devices<br />Users register for a free profile and download the app to their mobile device<br />Users “check-in” to locations such as stores and restaurants Users can share tips and information on businesses <br />Businesses can offer incentives such as coupons and prizes<br />Started in 2009, currently over 10 million users<br />More than 500,000 businesses are using <br />Over 3 million check-ins a day, 750 million check-ins <br />

What is Facebook Places?<br />Begun in 2010<br />Allows Facebook users to “check-in” to a location and share their location with friends<br />Users need a mobile device that allows GPS location<br />Facebook Deals gives discounts, coupons and free merchandise to users at participating businesses<br />
