My best experience at the aquarium was when I went to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia. It was about 2 years ago but what made it so fascinating was that I could feel some of the animals like starfish and I could get real close to the glass so it felt like I was really close to the animals in the tank. It was not like any other of my visits to the aquarium.

Georgia Explorer

The Georgia Explorer gallery is a series of pools full of horseshoe crabs, sea stars, stingrays and shrimp. The large habitats feature loggerhead sea turtles and the fish of Gray's Reef — an underwater area off the Georgia coast designated a National Marine Sanctuary. This gallery will connect you with right whales, which are one of the most endangered mammals on the planet.

Cold Water Quest

The Cold Water Quest holds a series of animals from Oregon to Japan, from South Australia to South Africa, cold ocean waters teem with fish and marine mammals. Beneath the waves curious animals such as Australian weedy sea dragons, garibaldi damselfish and Japanese spider crabs hang among rocky ledges and kelp forests.

Ocean Voyager

Walk through an acrylic tunnel or stand in front of a gigantic acrylic viewing window, and you will feel like a SCUBA diver in an endless blue sea, mesmerized by thousands of fish swimming overhead. Ocean Voyager, built by The Home Depot, is home to the gentle giants of the sea, including whale sharks and two manta rays, Nandi and Tallulah. They are the only manta rays in a U.S. aquarium ever.

River Scout

Rivers are a source of life for animals, people and cultures throughout the world. In the River Scout gallery, presented by Southern Company, you will discover a wide diversity of animals found in the rivers of Africa, South America, and Asia.

Tropical Diver

While you can visit any gallery in the Georgia Aquarium at any time, you may wish to visit this gallery last. After a long journey through all the regions of the world, we have saved the most relaxing for the end: tropical coral reefs. These exhibits are appropriately arranged like a gallery of living art. You could find "Nemo“, seahorses, fairy basslets, yellow-head jawfish, jellyfish and other creatures of the sea. At the center of this gallery is one of the largest living reef exhibits of any aquarium in the world. Living corals and thousands of colorful reef fish are presented in a faithful recreation of a tropical Pacific coral reef, complete with an overhead crashing wave.

4D Theatre

Along with seeing the thousands of animals at the Georgia Aquarium, what if you could also experience the underwater world from their point of view? By combining digital projection, a high definition 3D film and unique special effects, the Georgia Aquarium's 4D Theater allows guests to do exactly that.
