Manually turn off Search Privacy as soon as you’re ready to go
public with your profile. When creating your profile, add in any
keywords that will make your Pinterest page more searchable.
GET A PINTEREST BUSINESS ACCOUNT, AND MAKE SURE
YOUR ACCOUNT GETS VERIFIED
When you register your account as a business, Pinterest
allows you to verify your account. Verified accounts tend to do
much better in search, and opens the door to ‘Rich Pins’ with
features that stand out from regular posts.
OPTIMIZE YOUR BUSINESS PROFILE NAME
Make sure to include the full name of your business so that it’s
easy to find. You only have 3-15 characters with which to do
this, so if your business has a longer name, try to shorten
it in a way that won’t confuse your followers.

USE KEYWORDS IN YOUR BOARD NAMES, BOARD
DESCRIPTIONS, AND PIN DESCRIPTIONS
Rename your Pin boards with SEO keywords. Your Pin
board names should reflect your business, its services, and its
offerings as a whole.
Board descriptions are another easy way to fill up your page
with keywords. Do a quick Pinterest search of the keywords
you plan on using on your page – it’ll give you an idea of what
your competition is up to.
KEEP DESCRIPTIONS CONCISE
Your Pin descriptions can only be 500 words long, but we
recommend that you stick to the Pinterest aesthetic and only
use up half of that space.
Beware of using too many keywords – if your descriptions
and board names are completely bogged down with obvious
keywords, Google might get suspicious and mark your page
as spam.

stunning images that best represent the content of each board.

CREATE DESCRIPTIONS SO THAT YOUR CONTENT IS SEARCHABLE.
Use keywords and hashtags to optimize your board’s visibility, and
link back to the original source of the content.
INTERACT WITH OTHER PINNERS.
Comment, like, and repin, and others will start to return the favor

BE SPAMMY.
It’s great to be

flooding people with links

Having too many hashtags

The best pins have a synchronous design with images
that tell a visual story through a similar color palette and
common thread.
They portray a feeling of quality, as if time and care has been
put into the design. Alluding to a story through the images is
a great way to create enough visual interest to get users to
click on your pins.

Leave off a description, so if

THE THREE KEYS TO SUCCESS Brands can showcase products, services, blog posts, infographics, instructions, recipes, and more through Pins and paid ‘Sponsored Pins.’ There are 3 simple steps to Pinterest success. UPLOAD COMPELLING VISUAL PINS Determine your brand’s visual style. Fun? Serious? Classy? What colors? What fonts? Then design visually compelling pins that are on brand and inspire clicks. FOLLOW OTHER ACCOUNTS Gain followers by following other Pinners’ boards, as well as commenting, liking, and repinning their pins. PIN AND REPIN CONSISTENTLY Create a content calendar and work towards adding pins a minimum of 2 to 3 times a week and scheduling specifically for weekends, when traffic is highest. 01

When creating your profile, add in any keywords that will make your Pinterest page more searchable. GET A PINTEREST BUSINESS ACCOUNT, AND MAKE SURE YOUR ACCOUNT GETS VERIFIED When you register your account as a business, Pinterest allows you to verify your account. Verified accounts tend to do much better in search, and opens the door to ‘Rich Pins’ with features that stand out from regular posts. OPTIMIZE YOUR BUSINESS PROFILE NAME Make sure to include the full name of your business so that it’s easy to find. You only have 3-15 characters with which to do this, so if your business has a longer name, try to shorten it in a way that won’t confuse your followers. PART 1

Your Pin board names should reflect your business, its services, and its offerings as a whole. Board descriptions are another easy way to fill up your page with keywords. Do a quick Pinterest search of the keywords you plan on using on your page – it’ll give you an idea of what your competition is up to. KEEP DESCRIPTIONS CONCISE Your Pin descriptions can only be 500 words long, but we recommend that you stick to the Pinterest aesthetic and only use up half of that space. Beware of using too many keywords – if your descriptions and board names are completely bogged down with obvious keywords, Google might get suspicious and mark your page as spam. CHOOSE LARGE, STUNNING IMAGES WHICH BEST REPRESENT THE CONTENT Pinterest cover photos should be high-res, vertical, visually stunning images that best represent the content of each board. Impressive cover photos help your audience quickly assess the quality of your pins leading users to follow your account rather than just re-pinning the most relatable images. CREATE DESCRIPTIONS SO THAT YOUR CONTENT IS SEARCHABLE. Use keywords and hashtags to optimize your board’s visibility, and link back to the original source of the content. INTERACT WITH OTHER PINNERS. Comment, like, and repin, and others will start to return the favor for your content. ADD PINTEREST SOCIAL BUTTON OR“SAVE”BUTTONTOYOURWEBSITE. Advertise the fact that you’re on Pinterest with a button on your site so that Pinners can easily find you.
  • 7. THE DON’TS 03 MAKE IT ONLY ABOUT YOU. Posting content that is solely related to your products or services could create brand fatigue. Just like any other social media website, Pinterest is about creating a community of sharing and interacting with others, not excessively promoting. BE SPAMMY. It’s great to be conversational, but avoid flooding people with links to your websites in their comments and under your descriptions of images and boards. It looks cheesy and unprofessional. OVER-HASHTAG. Having too many hashtags can negatively impact your ranking, so adding a few is fine and advised, but having too many is not a good strategy.

ADD MYSTERY TO YOUR PINS 05 A way to ensure click- throughs to your website is to create a visual pin with eye-catching headlines such as “How To’s.” Leave off a description, so if users want the information, they’ll need to click through to your site in order to read the article or blog post. If you have, say, a recipe blog, list only the ingredients in the description, so if the user wants the full recipe, they’ll need to click through to your site. HACK #2
  • 11. ADD A VISUAL CTA ‘BUTTON’ TO YOUR PINS 05 The entire Pinterest pin is already like a button, since clicking anywhere on an image will bring you to the site the pin is linked to. To best take advantage of this, create an image with a clear call to action such as “Check It Out” or “Join the Movement” that resembles a clickable button.
