Personal Progression Framework

  1. PROGRESSION The Art and Science of Thinking Forward
  2. One of the greatest challenges we have is pursuit of excellence and our highest ideals. Mediocrity seems to be the order of the day, most especially in our local context where hard work and diligence gives way to the expediency of monetary inducement and momentary personal gain, where we are surrounded by so few examples of exemplary acts of personal sacrifice and commitment.
  3. The challenge that faces us as individuals, organizations and Nigerians is how do we instil this desire and create a system where hard work is valued and there is a direct correlation between effort expended and reward given. So that all participants can fully engage their highest capacity.
  4. Can such a system be created? Can we change the path we are currently on and chart a new and exciting course? A course that we lead us to greater vistas of success and achievement as individuals and collectively as organizations and businesses. I believe so, not only that we MUST !!!
  5. The creation of such a system must embrace fundamentals of personal effectiveness, leadership training, organizational dynamics and economics. It must bring together the best research in these areas and make it applicable to the Nigerian context. It must deliver practical, real world solutions and give valuable metrics to sustain progress and evaluate outcomes.
  6. I would like to share with you one such system simply called: PROGRESSION

Progression takes the best research and thought in business, human capacity development, organizational dynamics, and management amongst and builds a framework for creating sustained personal, professional or organizational progression. It defines 7 key areas of focus. i. Inspiration ii. Differentiation iii. Staging iv. Mechanics v. Memory vi. Innovation vii. Legacy
  8. Inspiration: To stimulate energies, ideals, or reverence Motivation the unmotivated is largely impossible, It waits time and creates unrealistic expectations for all those involves. Instead we must learn to inspire the motivated. We must learn how to inspire and understand what inspires the motivated. This modules gives you valuable insight and presents case studies on how to develop an inspirational paradigm for others to follow.
  9. Differentiation: to express specific distinguishing qualities Inspired individuals are different. They work harder, longer and more passionately. They are the stars. But, it takes more than inspiration, to sustain differentiation. Differentiation itself is a skill that can be learned. It requires consistent self-evaluation and consistency. This module is tasked with given you tools for self evaluation and discipline.
  10. Staging: Platform or system of platforms used for support Building support structures is vital for continued development. Knowing which structures will stimulate growth and which will stifle it, that’s another matter. Learn how to create excellent support and platforms essential to sustaining progression.
  11. Mechanics: Means by which an effect is produced or a purpose is accomplished. In a world of constant change, those that can create mechanisms that can stimulate progress will excel. Creating policies and processes to stimulate growth takes clarity of context and unwavering commitments for change.
  12. Memory: The process of reinforcing, reproducing and recalling what has been learned and retained From Apple to Disney, to Union Bank and GTB. They all have their distinctive cultures. Customers and clients of these companies have their expectation and perceptions of what to expect from them. Knowing how to use organizational memory creates the possibility to create vibrant cultures aligned with strategic objectives.
  13. Innovation: The art of making changes to something established by introducing something new All revolutions in business or technology are usually really evolutionary and incremental changes in existing. However, knowing which steps or changes will lead to innovative solutions is the greatest challenge. We must learn how to create a culture that doesn’t stifle innovation.
  14. Succession: the order that determines how one person or thing follows another Knowing how and when to let go is fundamental for progression. Understanding that the ability to “train up” and the role it plays in organizational success is crucial for corporate longevity.
  15. To focus on these areas and develop and deploying them in increasing agility will give you the ability to sustain and execute progression and exhibit leadership in your specific domain, be it business, social, professional or personal.
