  1. 1. 2010-2011 Seattle Youth Commission year-end report: Youth Violence The Youth Violence subcommittee of the Seattle Youth Commission began theirwork by working with other youth-oriented groups to plan and co-host the very successfulBuilding Bridges youth-police relations forum in January of 2011 at the Garfield Teen LifeCenter. Nearly 150 youth, police officers, and community members attended, joining in smallbreakout discussions after listening to a moderated panel discussion and a short question andanswer session. Following Building Bridges, the Youth Violence subcommittee drafted a survey, whichhas begun distribution at SPD youth events, with the intention of measuring the success andresults of programs like the donut dialogues and role reversals. Data will continue to becollected and monitored by the Commission. Finally, the Youth Violence subcommittee brought together the Chief of Police, hiscommand staff, and the Commission, creating a strong alliance against youth violence and acommunication network that will continue in the future in the form of regular quarterly meetings.
