To ensure this is a community-driven event we want to keep our event as low-
cost as possible so that security professionals throughout
the region are not prohibited from attending due to high
ticket costs. This year, for the first time, participants will
have the option to attend completely free of charge. For
this reason, we NEED to look to trusted sponsors to make
this event happen.
This package contains information for ways in which you
can help support the BSidesSLC event as a sponsor and
participate in this unique event. One of the greatest
benefit of this conference is providing the local
community an opportunity to learn and grow, thus helping organization
throughout the state to better secure their systems and networks. We would love
to partner with you to make this happen.

A trend that has been taking place at security conventions is sponsors are
bringing a presence not so much to make a brand awareness, but to find talent.
If your organization has had any difficulty finding the right candidate for an
Information Security position, join us as a sponsor, and come to the event. We’ll
announce you’re looking and direct interested potential employees your way.
If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact us by
emailing info@bsidesslc.org. or call the contacts listed below. We value your
participation in this BSidesSLC event, and thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
The BSidesSLC 2015 Organizers
History
The Security B-Sides idea was born in 2009 when a number of quality speakers
and presentations were rejected from a well-known mainstream conference. The
rejections were not due to a lack of quality, but rather lack of space and time.
Organizers wanted to provide people with options by removing common
conference barriers and providing more options for speakers, topics, and event.
Thousands of people have attended and written about their experience at
Security B-Sides events. Read more at
http://www.securitybsides.com/w/page/19532810/Media
While every Security B-Sides event is unique, here are some things that remain
common between conferences:
• Community organized, volunteer driven,
and sponsor funded
• Provide a forum to expanding the
spectrum of conversation
• Focus on giving a voice to the “next big
thing”
Different
We reach out to local security professionals
who are looking to share their knowledge
about cutting edge security related topics
via presentations. In fact we invite anyone
who has security experience with tools,
techniques or philosophies to share their knowledge.
Our attendees have a wide variety of backgrounds in multiple disciplines with a
shared goal: To learn about and discuss emerging security issues, and connect
with others already within the industry.
Engage
Unlike other events where speakers may appear detached from the audience,
BSidesSLC provides a small and intimate environment for the attendees to
directly engage the speaker before, during, and after their talk or presentation.
Attendees are looking for more than just information; they are looking to make
connections they will call upon throughout the rest of their career.
Participation
We believe BSidesSLC is not made up of attendees, but rather participants.
Each individual who participates in BSidesSLC brings something unique to the
conference. Some bring hardware
expertise or organizational skills,
while others bring their friends who
help to fuel the crucial security
conversations. With competitions
and workshops we hope to promote
and foster a culture of learning.
Sponsorship enables you to be a
part of these crucial security
conversation by interacting with
conference participants. As our
thanks, we are committed to
connecting you with these
participants who share similar interests to you and your organization. Our goal
is to help provide a beneficial event for both your organization and our
participants, thus providing a long term relationship between BSidesSLC and
you.
Media Coverage
BSidesSLC joins the other Security B-Sides and the media attention that comes
with the organizations history and traditions. Past coverage has been provided
by companies such as SCO Online, Network World, Computerworld, Information
Week, The Register, ZDNet, and Dark Reading magazines. In addition to the
blog posts and podcasts, BSides have also received coverage form Hacker
News Network (HNN), EFFector, and Cisco System Cyber Risk Report.
Sponsorship provides your organization with the opportunity of being part
crucial security conversation that have and can get media attention. Many
participants have been quoted and picked up by mainstream news sources
including National Public Radio (NPR). Check out the entire list here:
http://www.securitybsides.com/w/
page/19532810/Media
The Value of Sponsorship
Our goal is to offer small intimate
conference where all participants
can engage with each other and
to help develop skills,
connections, friendships, and
network with different industry
professionals.
We recognize there is value in engaging a smaller local audience, however,
every organization will have different goals and priorities, which is why we offer
different levels of sponsorship. We’ve specifically designed several different
options for sponsorship.
Show Your Support
We recognize your desire to not only support a great event but also see return
on your investment. The following are a list of direct benefits you may see as an
event sponsor:
• Brand recognition and awareness: Depending on the level of sponsorship,
you may recognize your brand placement on some or all of the following: t-
shirts, signage, badges, presentation opening screens, and announcement
prior to each presentation. Our 2014 videos have had over 3.700+ views!
Based on your level of participation, creative and custom branding may be
arranged including transportation, banners, and
podcast interviews.
• Small Targeted Audience: For some, sponsoring
large events is not within their price range leaving
them with no option for communicating their
message. BSidesSLC events are just the place for
you! This small, community atmosphere brings
together active and engaged participants who
want to absorb information. Sponsoring the
BSidesSLC conference enables you to be that big
fish in a small pond and to better communicate your message to an active
local audience.
• Stay in touch with the industry: The BSidesSLC conference enable
supporters and participants to identify and connect with industry leaders and
voices. These participants represent the social network of security. They are
the people who you want to engage to solicit feedback and bring voice to
your conversation.
• Find your next employee. If you’re looking for talent, BSides events gather
the best of the best. Come talk in an informal atmosphere where your
potential employee can get to know your ‘vibe’ and you can get to know
them.
• Stay abreast on the next big thing: Nobody knows what the “next big
thing” will be, but these events are community driven with presentations
voted upon by the participants. There is no magic to how it works, but we
believe that listening to those entrenched into the day-to-day security
operations can help prepare you and help your organization identify what the
next big thing might be.

Great event, our team was stoked. Can’t wait to
sponsor next year! — Rainer Engel
* The CFP is open, and will close near the end of December. At that time
speakers will be chosen and no additional speakers will be added for
sponsors after that time.
** Sponsor speakers can represent the company, but cannot speak about the
company. We don’t want any vendor pitches, but we would love to see the
caliber and talent the company employs.
A La Carte Packages
If you would like to see your logo more prominently displayed consider adding
an “A La Carte” item to your support. We would name you as the exclusive
sponsor for whatever item you choose, and we would cobrand items with your
logo (the exception being the challenge coin which will feature only the BSides
logo and the type of coin issued (staff/speaker/participant).
Shirts
We’re offering t-shirts to contributing participants as a premium item, so it’s not
likely that everyone will get one. Want to change that? If you’ll cover the costs for
shirts for the whole con, we’ll put your name/logo on the back, more prominently
than any other logo (save our own).
$2,500
Challenge Coins
Rather than an electronic badge, we’re going to go with something more long
lasting this year, a challenge coin. The front will be the BSidesSLC logo, and the
back will say what kind of participant received it, staff, speaker, or participant.
There will also be a hacker challenge built into the coin. Like the shirts, we’re
offering this to participants as a premium, so not everyone will get one (those
that don’t will get a plastic badge). If you would like to make the challenge coin
available to everyone, we’ll not put your logo on the coin, but we will put your
logo on the lanyard, we will feature your logo more prominently on the t-shirt and
the YouTube videos, and you will have the never ending thanks from everyone at
the event.

Meals
We’ll be offering food (lunch and dinner on Thursday, lunch on Friday) to
participants, but they’ll be paying for this themselves. The cost to provide all
three meals to all participants would be pretty costly, so we’ll make each meal
available as an A La Carte item separately. If you want to sponsor one of the
three, let us know, and when it comes time, we’ll announce the meal for
everyone sponsored by You. We’ll also put up any/all standing banners you’d
like to have at the event during the meal.
$10,000/meal
Entertainment Food
If you’d like to help us make sure there are munchies for everyone during the
game night/entertainment/hacker challenge, we’ll gladly announce your
sponsorship of the hacker late night diet.
$3,500
Swag Bags
We all know you and other sponsors will be wanting to get some swag and
marketing materials in the hands of these professionals. They need to carry this
stuff around. Help us get some bags for everyone and one side of the bag will
be our logo, the other will be yours. They’ll take these bags home and there
you’ll be.
$1,700
Lanyards
Everyone with a badge will have a lanyard, challenge coin or no. We’ll cobrand
that lanyard with your logo as the lanyard sponsor, and it will hang from their
cubicle wall as part of their badge display forever.
$1,400
If you would like to help sponsor BSidesSLC
We’d love to work with you, and make sure that the sponsor agreement is
specific to how you’d like to participate in this exciting event. Please contact the

If your organization has had any difficulty finding the right candidate for an Information Security position, join us as a sponsor, and come to the event. We’ll announce you’re looking and direct interested potential employees your way. If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact us by emailing info@bsidesslc.org. or call the contacts listed below. We value your participation in this BSidesSLC event, and thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, The BSidesSLC 2015 Organizers History The Security B-Sides idea was born in 2009 when a number of quality speakers and presentations were rejected from a well-known mainstream conference. The rejections were not due to a lack of quality, but rather lack of space and time. Organizers wanted to provide people with options by removing common conference barriers and providing more options for speakers, topics, and event. Thousands of people have attended and written about their experience at Security B-Sides events. Read more at http://www.securitybsides.com/w/page/19532810/Media While every Security B-Sides event is unique, here are some things that remain common between conferences: • Community organized, volunteer driven, and sponsor funded • Provide a forum to expanding the spectrum of conversation • Focus on giving a voice to the “next big thing” Different We reach out to local security professionals who are looking to share their knowledge about cutting edge security related topics via presentations. In fact we invite anyone who has security experience with tools, techniques or philosophies to share their knowledge.
  • 4. Our attendees have a wide variety of backgrounds in multiple disciplines with a shared goal: To learn about and discuss emerging security issues, and connect with others already within the industry. Engage Unlike other events where speakers may appear detached from the audience, BSidesSLC provides a small and intimate environment for the attendees to directly engage the speaker before, during, and after their talk or presentation. Attendees are looking for more than just information; they are looking to make connections they will call upon throughout the rest of their career. Participation We believe BSidesSLC is not made up of attendees, but rather participants. Each individual who participates in BSidesSLC brings something unique to the conference. Some bring hardware expertise or organizational skills, while others bring their friends who help to fuel the crucial security conversations. With competitions and workshops we hope to promote and foster a culture of learning. Sponsorship enables you to be a part of these crucial security conversation by interacting with conference participants. As our thanks, we are committed to connecting you with these participants who share similar interests to you and your organization. Our goal is to help provide a beneficial event for both your organization and our participants, thus providing a long term relationship between BSidesSLC and you. • 5. http://www.securitybsides.com/w/ page/19532810/Media The Value of Sponsorship Our goal is to offer small intimate conference where all participants can engage with each other and to help develop skills, connections, friendships, and network with different industry professionals. We recognize there is value in engaging a smaller local audience, however, every organization will have different goals and priorities, which is why we offer different levels of sponsorship. We’ve specifically designed several different options for sponsorship. Show Your Support We recognize your desire to not only support a great event but also see return on your investment. The following are a list of direct benefits you may see as an event sponsor: • Brand recognition and awareness: Depending on the level of sponsorship, you may recognize your brand placement on some or all of the following: t- shirts, signage, badges, presentation opening screens, and announcement prior to each presentation. Our 2014 videos have had over 3.700+ views! Based on your level of participation, creative and custom branding may be arranged including transportation, banners, and podcast interviews. • Small Targeted Audience: For some, sponsoring large events is not within their price range leaving them with no option for communicating their message. BSidesSLC events are just the place for you! This small, community atmosphere brings together active and engaged participants who want to absorb information. Sponsoring the BSidesSLC conference enables you to be that big fish in a small pond and to better communicate your message to an active local audience. • Stay in touch with the industry: The BSidesSLC conference enable supporters and participants to identify and connect with industry leaders and voices. These participants represent the social network of security. They are the people who you want to engage to solicit feedback and bring voice to your conversation.
  • 6. • Find your next employee. If you’re looking for talent, BSides events gather the best of the best. Come talk in an informal atmosphere where your potential employee can get to know your ‘vibe’ and you can get to know them. • Stay abreast on the next big thing: Nobody knows what the “next big thing” will be, but these events are community driven with presentations voted upon by the participants. There is no magic to how it works, but we believe that listening to those entrenched into the day-to-day security operations can help prepare you and help your organization identify what the next big thing might be. • 7. * The CFP is open, and will close near the end of December. At that time speakers will be chosen and no additional speakers will be added for sponsors after that time. ** Sponsor speakers can represent the company, but cannot speak about the company. We don’t want any vendor pitches, but we would love to see the caliber and talent the company employs. A La Carte Packages If you would like to see your logo more prominently displayed consider adding an “A La Carte” item to your support. We would name you as the exclusive sponsor for whatever item you choose, and we would cobrand items with your logo (the exception being the challenge coin which will feature only the BSides logo and the type of coin issued (staff/speaker/participant). Shirts We’re offering t-shirts to contributing participants as a premium item, so it’s not likely that everyone will get one. Want to change that? If you’ll cover the costs for shirts for the whole con, we’ll put your name/logo on the back, more prominently than any other logo (save our own). $2,500 Challenge Coins Rather than an electronic badge, we’re going to go with something more long lasting this year, a challenge coin. The front will be the BSidesSLC logo, and the back will say what kind of participant received it, staff, speaker, or participant. There will also be a hacker challenge built into the coin. Like the shirts, we’re offering this to participants as a premium, so not everyone will get one (those that don’t will get a plastic badge). If you would like to make the challenge coin available to everyone, we’ll not put your logo on the coin, but we will put your logo on the lanyard, we will feature your logo more prominently on the t-shirt and the YouTube videos, and you will have the never ending thanks from everyone at the event. $6,000 Logo on YouTube Videos x x x x x Logo on website x x x x x Speaking opportunity (see below) Full Talk 30 Minute Table In Sponsor Area Full Table Full Table Half Table Half Table Swag in conference bag x x x x Discounts on “A La Carte” 25% 20% 15% 12% 10%
  • 8. Meals We’ll be offering food (lunch and dinner on Thursday, lunch on Friday) to participants, but they’ll be paying for this themselves. The cost to provide all three meals to all participants would be pretty costly, so we’ll make each meal available as an A La Carte item separately. If you want to sponsor one of the three, let us know, and when it comes time, we’ll announce the meal for everyone sponsored by You. We’ll also put up any/all standing banners you’d like to have at the event during the meal. $10,000/meal Entertainment Food If you’d like to help us make sure there are munchies for everyone during the game night/entertainment/hacker challenge, we’ll gladly announce your sponsorship of the hacker late night diet. $3,500 Swag Bags We all know you and other sponsors will be wanting to get some swag and marketing materials in the hands of these professionals. They need to carry this stuff around. Help us get some bags for everyone and one side of the bag will be our logo, the other will be yours. They’ll take these bags home and there you’ll be. $1,700 Lanyards Everyone with a badge will have a lanyard, challenge coin or no. We’ll cobrand that lanyard with your logo as the lanyard sponsor, and it will hang from their cubicle wall as part of their badge display forever. $1,400
