Let us know.Send an email to or call 228-871-3662.New law gives parents school district choice -Recently, Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed into lawHouse Bill 879 giving parents who live on board militarybases in Mississippi a choice of which school district tosend their children. The law states, “Those childrenwhose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) are active membersof the United States Armed Forces or civilian militarypersonnel and reside on a military base, may, at thediscretion of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), enrolland attend the school district of their parent’s orguardian’s choosing, regardless of the residence of thechild, provided the school district where the studentresides or in an adjacent school district and the parent’sor guardian’s choice of school district does not violate theprovision of subsection (3) of this section prohibiting thetransportation of students in excess of thirty (30) miles.”Parents are no longer required to get an out of districttransfer release or fill out an in district acceptance form.They can go directly to the school and register. Thisincludes Naval Construction Battalion Center base housingand North Pointe Preserve on County Farm Road. Parentscan choose between Gulfport, Biloxi, Long Beach andHarrison County School Districts.
