Adani Power Limited
An Endeavor to
Empower the Nation
Thinking big
Doing better
Everyone has a philosophy or a set of rules they
work by. Ours is Thinking big, Doing better.
Over the course of 25 years, we discovered that
starting a large scale business has served not
only us, but also the nation. This in turn has
affected millions of lives, making them simpler
and better.
This is why we think big, so we can do better.
Each action we take ripples throughout the
society and benefits people in ways we never
even dreamt of.
Adani Power Limited
A leader in the private
power sector of India.

Our power generation capabilities have
expanded multi-fold over the past years.
In order to benefit our end users, power
transmission capabilities in the country
need to be ramped up. Our Adani
Transmission team has laid over 6000
circuit kms of transmission network
since its inception. We are on the path
to becoming one of the largest private
transmission businesses in India.

Delivering power far and wide
HVDC is a firewall against cascading
disturbances and it improves transmission
efficiency. HVDC system also requires
fewer towers, reducing the number of
Right of Way issues when compared to
an equivalent AC system. HVDC enables
Controlled Power Exchange (125 MW to
2500 MW) and aids in power transmission
and stabilisation between asynchronous
AC distribution systems. Overall, HVDC
improves (inter-region) grid stability.
Key achievements
•	India’s largest private sector transmission
	company.
•	India’s first private sector player to
receive the Global Investment Grade rating
	 in the power sector.
•	First private company in India to build
HVDC system over 1000 kms with
maximum capacity of 2500 MW, which
is also the second longest line in India
	 after Talcher-Kolar.
•	Longest Earth electrode line of
	 approximately 187 kms at Mohindergarh
•	First steel structure pre-fabricated valve
	 hall in India.
•	Fastest open converter test conducted
within 26 months of project inception.
•	Fastest executed HVDC transmission line /
	 terminals in India.
•	In-house design, engineering, testing,
	 and inspection.
•	Achieved a system availability of more
	 than 99.83% in FY 15-16.

has built strong internal capabilities in
	Engineering, Procurement, Project
	 Management, Project Execution and
	 Commissioning. It has continually evolved
in the area of project implementation
by adopting the world’s best practices.
• Adani Infra relies on value engineering
	 concepts, driving ideas, executing them
and bringing efficiency into the system.

Executing projects with efficiency
Operations and Maintenance
•	Operations and maintenance (OM) plays
a key role in ensuring the smooth
functioning of the grid and in providing
	reliable and uninterrupted quality power
	 supply to our consumers.
•	By adopting supercritical technology units,
	 energy efficiency has been achieved.
Grid blackouts are avoided by complying
with the grid code. Installation of
	technologically advanced emission
control systems such as Flue Gas
	 Desulphurisation, Electrostatic Precipitators
and SOx/NOx Reduction Burners, in addition
to monitoring ambient noise, air quality
and emissions at plant locations has aided
in preservation of the local ecosystem.
•	For enhancing its competency, OM
imparts expert training to its employees
	along with practicing mechanised and
	 automated housekeeping methods.

Increasing product lifecycle
Adani Power is committed to achieving
excellence in all areas. Having a strong
system-oriented culture, all four of its
plant locations, i.e. Mundra, Tiroda, Kawai
and Udupi are certified with Integrated
Management System (IMS), consisting
of Quality Management System (ISO
9001:2008), Environment Management
System (ISO 14001:2004) and Occupational
Health Safety Management System
(OHSAS 18001:2007).
Demonstrating their passion for Energy
Conservation, all four locations are also
certified with Energy Management System
(ISO 50001:2011). All certifications are
accredited by renowned companies
like TuV NORD in Germany, DNV-GL in
Sweden and Bureau Veritas in France.
Further, by adopting the best practices
from The Total Quality Management
(TQM) model, the plant locations
at Mundra, Tiroda and Kawai have
implemented and achieved 5S (Work
Place Management System) certification
offered by Quality Circle Forum of India,
Hyderabad.

The Power
of Integration
An integrated,
international
business with
a major
competitive
advantage.
Each of our core businesses _ resources, logistics and
energy is successful in its own right.
We estimate that these three activities will account for
more than 90% of revenues within the next decade. For
resources and ports, half of the business will come from
integrated operations.
The integrated model is well adapted to the
infrastructure challenges of fast-growing countries
such as India. It offers security of supply for coal and
other essential imports while mitigating price and
political risks.
Integration multiplies the benefits for synergies and
economies of scale, both for us and for our customers.
Resources means obtaining coal from
mines and trading; in the future it will also
include oil and gas production.
Logistics denotes a large network of ports,
the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and multi-modal
logistics _ railways and ships.
Energy involves power generation and transmission,
renewables and gas distribution.

One Vision
One Brand
Our vision is to be recognised as the
globally aclaimed leader of integrated
infrastructure businesses with a deep
commitment to nation building.
We will be known for our scale of ambition,
speed of execution and quality of operation.
We will achieve our vision by acting as
one organisation with one brand. Our
new visual expression is designed to help
tell a story of integration.

  • 19. 34 35 The Power of Integration An integrated, international business with a major competitive advantage. Each of our core businesses _ resources, logistics and energy is successful in its own right. We estimate that these three activities will account for more than 90% of revenues within the next decade. For resources and ports, half of the business will come from integrated operations. The integrated model is well adapted to the infrastructure challenges of fast-growing countries such as India. It offers security of supply for coal and other essential imports while mitigating price and political risks. Integration multiplies the benefits for synergies and economies of scale, both for us and for our customers. Resources means obtaining coal from mines and trading; in the future it will also include oil and gas production. Logistics denotes a large network of ports, the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and multi-modal logistics _ railways and ships. Energy involves power generation and transmission, renewables and gas distribution. 3332
