    4. 4. Using Lines <ul><li>Organize, connect, separate </li></ul><ul><li>Create movement </li></ul><ul><li>Provide texture </li></ul><ul><li>Convey a mood or emotion </li></ul><ul><li>Define shapes </li></ul><ul><li>Provide emphasis </li></ul><ul><li>Provide a framework </li></ul>
    5. 5. Using Lines <ul><li>A solid line separates columns of text, a pair of lines set apart a phrase, and a short dotted line separates a section of text from other parts of the page. </li></ul>
    6. 6. Patterns <ul><li>A pattern is something that repeats in a design. </li></ul><ul><li>In some cases it can be lines. </li></ul><ul><li>Patterns can be: </li></ul><ul><li>Repetitive but STILL interesting! </li></ul>
    7. 7. Patterns: Kristen Nikosey Kristen Nikosey is a graphic designer whose work has been hugely influenced by textile design, pattern designs and impressionist paintings. Kristen works both traditionally in acrylic on canvas, as well as in a digital format utilizing software such as Illustrator and Photoshop.

    16. 16. Filters <ul><li>Filters are different ways to alter an image: </li></ul><ul><li>Make an image look like painted art </li></ul><ul><li>Blur an image </li></ul><ul><li>Add light to an image </li></ul><ul><li>Add texture to an image </li></ul>
    17. 17. Cropping <ul><li>Definition : to select part of a shot in order to take out part of a picture. </li></ul>

    22. 22. Filter Gallery <ul><li>Filter – Filter Gallery </li></ul><ul><li>You can adjust the zoom of the picture, and edit the settings for each filter in the filter gallery. </li></ul>
    23. 23. Task Today <ul><li>Select a photograph from the internet, or use one of your own. Download the photograph to your computer. </li></ul><ul><li>Crop if necessary. Then use filters to modify your picture. Add an interesting title. </li></ul><ul><li>The picture should be interesting and tell a story . </li></ul><ul><li>I want you to Photoshop a picture, then you must upload it to the course website. Don’t forget your name. </li></ul><ul><li>Please make sure the image is .jpg or .gif format. </li></ul>
