The document provides an evaluation of an advertisement for Nescafe coffee 2 in 1 sachets. The summary is as follows:
The advertisement persuaded people to buy the product by showing how easy it is to make with just ripping open the top and mixing it with hot water. It targeted busy working adults aged 18-30 by showing how quick it is to make. The strengths included its humorous feel and being shot quickly, while weaknesses were that it had a childlike feel from the music and actors did not speak clearly without a script.
2. How did we persuade?
We persuaded people to buy the Nescafe coffee 2 in 1 sachets by showing
how easy it is to make the coffee, by ripping the top off, pouring it in a mug and
mixing with hot water. It shows how simple it is to make this hot beverage, and
it tells the audience that you don’t need a lot of time to make this drink, as it is
instant. I think this was a successful method to include in the advert because it
shows the audience what exactly they are paying for, and what they will get out
of the product.
3. Persuasive techniques?
We also included a sense of humour in this advert, to make people remember
and make sure it sticks in their minds when they see or hear about the product.
If they were to be reminded of how funny the advert is, it is more likely that they
will be willing to pay for the product because it may have entertained them in
some way.
4. Who is the audience?
The audience for our advert would be working adults who are often on the go,
travelling to and from work. Also perhaps people who work in office buildings,
got to university or college, or people who are rushing around without any time
on their hands. We would be targeting the population who are interested in
drinking coffee. The target audience would be late teenage years to mid or late
20’s, so the age range would probably be 18-30 years old.
5. The strengths?
The strengths of the advert is the humourous feel that it gives off, and it
achieves to give an amusing effect to the audience of the advert. I think that
another strength would be that we shot the advert in good time, it didn’t take
long to record at all. I think that our group thought of an original and different
plot, something that hasn’t been thought of before. I think that it gives a unique
feel to the advert.
6. The weaknesses?
I think the weaknesses of the advert is how cheesy it really became when we
added the music used continuity editing to piece all of the clips together. I feel
that this makes the theme very childlike, but we made sure that the advert isn’t
meant to be taken seriously. I think that a weakness was that the actors didn’t
really speak very clearly, and there wasn’t a great deal of talking overall.
7. What could we do differently?
For our initial plan, we didn’t make a script for the actors to read from, we told
them directly what we wanted them to say. I think that we could shoot the
advert differently, by making up a script for each of the actors so they won't get
confused and so they have a better chance of remembering their lines. I think
that this will also save some time, as we could roll through each of the scenes
more easily and the advert would flow through.
