  5. 5. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - Solera GmbH- • Company name Solera= Sol + Era – Combination of words with a Spanish origin – The aim of our company is to develop environmentally friendly technologies for energy production InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved energy production – Specialized in the development and installation of photovoltaic systems and alternative heating systems – 56 employees with different expertise under one roof (solar installers, scaffolders, electricians, carpenter, heating installers, etc. • Foundation: 2008
  6. 6. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - Our technology - Parabolic trough collector operation principle: • A parabolic collector uses just the direct incident radiation. • The incident radiation is focused onto an absorber tube in order to heat the thermal medium circulating through it. InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved • It follows the sun thanks to its single axle. Mirror Absorber tube
  7. 7. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - Our technology - Characteristics Values Length 3000 mm Width 1140 mm Mirror surface 3.4 m2 Absorber tube diameter 35 mm InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved Absorber tube diameter 35 mm Concentration factor ca. 30 Temperature 90 - 250 °C Efficiency Up to 70% Tracking system Single axle Fluid used Water or thermal oil
  8. 8. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - InSun Project - • Solar process heat for a ham and sausages processing company. • FLEISCHWAREN BERGER GESMBH & CO KG (Austria). • Plant size: 60 kWth with 36 collectors; approx. 122 m² of technology in 450 m2. InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved
  9. 9. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - InSun Project - InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved
  10. 10. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - InSun Project - InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved
  11. 11. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - InSun Project - • Main expected results: 1. 219,46 kWh/m2a annual collector useful heat 2. 190,93 kWh/m2a annual solar heat supplied to the process 3. The use of parabolic trough collectors will save 2.856 l of heating oil per year, InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved 3. The use of parabolic trough collectors will save 2.856 l of heating oil per year, which corresponds to 8,6 tons of avoided CO2 emissions per year.
  12. 12. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - InSun Project - 1. Constant and fluid communication with suppliers and with the responsible persons involved in the installation is required when having short period for planning and installing. 2. Take into account the necessity of space for components LESSONS LEARNED DURING THE PLANNING AND INSTALLATION InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved 2. Take into account the necessity of space for components transportation and installation (E.g. large storage)
  13. 13. INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR PROCESS HEAT - InSun Project - LESSONS LEARNED DURING THE PLANNING AND INSTALLATION. 3. Setting parabolic collectors in free land areas can be challenging. It is really important to fix them in an specific position. With this same regard, the foundation of the buffer has to be perfectly plumbed and with no slope. InSun is a research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program: ENER/FP7/296009/InSun. Solera GmbH 2015- All rights reserved 4. Soil´s type and its characteristics are a key point when deciding how to fasten collectors on free land. 5. Take into account pressures and temperatures of old and new system, to plan a smooth integration and to have an efficient and simple to maintain system. 6. All hydraulic system which should be combined in the future have to be put into the planning at the very beginning, in order to facilitate the installation.
