Approx. €9.3bn will be spent over the seven-year period; in 2014 and 2015 largest pockets of money can be found in health, energy and transport. There is an open call system with cut off dates for evaluation throughout the year. More information is available via the Commission’s website. Open now within Health: •PHC-12-2014-1: Clinical research for the validation of biomarkers and/or diagnostic medical devices •Deadline date: 17 December 2014

Specific SME initiatives Ewrop & Chymru: Buddsoddi yn eich Dyfodol Europe and Wales: Investing in your future Ewrop & Chymru: Buddsoddi yn eich dyfodol Europe & Wales: Investing in your future SME Instrument: three phases 1.Feasibility study (upto €50,000). To fund a 6-month feasibility study. Application is short (10 pages) but requires firms to set out a clear business plan, and to have a new product development as part of that agenda. 2.Innovation activities, e.g. testing, scaling-up, market replication (70/100% funding). Successful companies will be granted between €500,000 and €2.5 million for demonstration and piloting the product. Whilst the money will be available solely for SMEs, research and technology organisations may also be able to benefit from contracts under the projects. 3.Facilitating access to risk capital – mentoring (no direct funds) Mentoring and coaching in all 3 stages

Access to Risk Finance Under the 'Industrial Leadership' pillar, this section will help companies and other types of organisation engaged in research and innovation (R&I) to gain easier access, via financial instruments, to loans, guarantees, counter- guarantees and equity finance.
