Samuel Phineas Upham grew up in New York City, where he has two sisters and four nieces and nephews. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for graduate school and Harvard University for undergraduate. He has worked at a number of firms including Lazard Frere, Tishman Speyer, and Morgan Stanley. Most recently he has traded global macro and invested in illiquid assets for a leading hedge fund / family office based in San Francisco and New York. He has served as a visiting scholar at UPenn, NYU and Columbia and is a Term Member for the Council on Foreign Relations.
