  1. 1. PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION COURSE BRYANT CONSULTING GROUP’S PMP TRAINING CAMP Contents OVERVIEW OF BCG’S PMP TRAINING CAMP............................................................1 OVERVIEW OF TRAINING CAMP INSTRUCTION......................................................2 COURSE CALENDAR.......................................................................................................4 COURSE PRICING.............................................................................................................5 CLOSING............................................................................................................................5 OVERVIEW OF BCG’S PMP TRAINING CAMP The ultimate goal for all Project Management course participants is to pass the Project Management Professional (PMP) examination as authored and administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The Project Management Professional (PMP) is the project management credential of choice for numerous industries and companies. By attaining the PMP Credential, the participant will be a member of the largest and most prestigious group of certified professionals in the global project management community. Earning a professional credential means that one has: o Demonstrated the appropriate education and/or professional experience. o Passed a rigorous examination. o Agreed to abide by a professional code of conduct. o Committed to maintaining their active credential through meeting continuing certification requirements. Project management certification is widely recognized as evidence of a proven level of expertise, education, and experience in project management. Through the use of the e- learning modules, the manuals, and the training classes, participants will be enabled to complete the Project Management Institute (PMI) accreditation examination for Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. The examination consists of a rigorous, multiple-choice examination designed to objectively assess project management knowledge. The PMP examination utilizes scenario or application-based questions where practitioners are asked to apply their knowledge to specific situations. 1|Page
  2. 2. The PMP Examination measures the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques that are utilized in the practice of project management. It is based on the PMP Examination Specification that details the percentage of questions contained in each performance domain: EXAM PERFORMANCE DOMAINS Initiating Planning Executing Monitoring and Controlling Closing Professional and Social Responsibility The examination is comprised of 200 multiple-choice questions, of which 25 are considered pretest questions. Pre-test questions are randomly placed throughout the exam and do not effect the candidate’s score. These questions are used in examinations as an effective and legitimate way to increase the number of future exam questions. The allotted time to complete the examination is four hours. The four-hour examination is preceded by a 15-minute computer tutorial, which is not part of the allotted four hours. PMP Examination questions: o are developed and validated by global work groups of content experts. o are referenced to current resources from project management textbook sources. o are monitored through psychometric analysis. o satisfy the test specifications of a job analysis. OVERVIEW OF TRAINING CAMP INSTRUCTION BCG’s PMP on-site training program, titled “Mastering the PMP Exam” is designed for project managers, program managers, and other professionals in the public and private sectors. There are certain prerequisites prior to enrolling in the BCG course: o Students must purchase the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Third Edition, as published by the Project Management Institute; and o Students must be eligible to take the PMP examination, as defined by the Project Management Institute (see www.pmi.org). 2|Page
  3. 3. The instructional method of the classes will be as follows: Method of Instruction Strategies The BCG Learn.Net PMP o BCG offers a preparatory e-learning system Certification E-learning unlike any other PMP exam preparation System program. o One month prior to the beginning of the instructor-led training, students will have access to the robust BCG Learn.com e-learning course. This course introduces students to project management from the PMI’s perspective and how it is addressed in the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Third Edition. o Full completion of the e-learning course will prepare students for the on-site, instructor-led training, as well as further preparing them for the PMP exam. The BCG PMP Certification o This manual correlates with the Project Training Manual Management Body of Knowledge Third Edition o The manual covers all inputs, techniques/strategies, and outputs of all parts of the nine knowledge areas of the overall five project management process groups. o Practical exercises, discussions, case studies, and scenarios appear throughout the manual. This enables the student to relate PMBOK concepts and principles to real world project management situations. Instructor-Led Presentation o Covers major concepts addressed in the corresponding manual o Provides class discussion points based upon: o Major concepts from the manual o Examples from the manual Group Activities Group activities play a major role in stimulating interest and involvement o Role play activities that implements course concepts with experiential learning o Analyze and discuss examples and scenarios that pertain to project management issues and concepts. 3|Page
  4. 4. Integration of small group activities, small group discussion, large group activities, and large group discussion will stimulate interest and involvement, while at the same time maximizing higher order thinking and experiential learning situations. Additionally, the BCG touch will be applied by giving participants review strategies throughout classes. Mock exams will be administered as well.
