Founded in 1983 and acquiredby IBM® in 2008, the underlying technology has remained the same; on-premisearchitecture with in-memory calculation engine for aggregating data.The ability to aggregate data in-memory with IBM Cognos® TM1 is a key benefit whencompared to other on-premise products like Oracle Hyperion® Essbase, but not whencompared to a cloud based planning platform like Anaplan. Log files are used for application configuration and the services can be stopped and started through the Windows services.
