building inhabited environments in outer space

There is very little amounts of oxygen in space so
oxygen supplements are needed for survival. Due to the
lack high air pressure, air is also pushed out of the lungs.

A new map of uranium on the moon has revealed the lunar
surface that could provides hopes of a nuclear power industry
on the lunar surface, researchers said.

officials approached researchers at Washington State University and

NASA 3D-Printed Habitat
Challenge

The design competition is the first milestone of the 3-D
Printed Habitat Challenge, which seeks to foster the
development of new technologies necessary to additively
manufacture a habitat using local indigenous materials with,
or without, recyclable materials, in space and on Earth.

NASA challenged participants to develop architectural
concepts to take advantage of the unique capabilities 3-D
printing offers to imagine what habitats on Mars might look
like using this technology and in-situ resources.

Description of Challenge: Challenge students in Grades K-12 to become the future creators and innovators of
tomorrow by using 3D modeling software to submit their designs to the 3D Printing in Space Challenges. The
winner will have their design printed in space on the 3D printer aboard the International Space Station.
