Session 2-what-is-my-identity-in-christ-1213853194024266-9

  1. 1. WHO AM I? WHAT AM I CALLED TO? What is my Identity “In Christ?”
  2. 2. WHO AM I “IN CHRIST?” 2 Corinthians 5: 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view…
  3. 3. WHO AM I “IN CHRIST?” 2 Corinthians 5: 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view… 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
  4. 4. Ephesians 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in theirunderstanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.
  5. 5. Ephesians 4:20 You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. 21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.22 You were taught, with regardto your former way of life, to put off your old self,which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
  6. 6. Ephesians 4: 23 To be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 And to put on the new self,created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
  7. 7. Romans 63 Or dont you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried withhim through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ wasraised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6 For we know that our old selfwas crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with
  8. 8. Galatians 220 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
  9. 9. Galatians 6 14 May I never boastexcept in the cross ofour Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world hasbeen crucified to me, and I to the world.
  10. 10. Colossians 3 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on thingsabove, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is nowhidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
  11. 11. Colossians 33 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
  12. 12. Colossians 3 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears,then you also will appear with him in glory.
  13. 13. Romans 7 15 I do not understandwhat I do. For what Iwant to do I do not do,but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I donot want to do, I agreethat the law is good. 17 As it is, it is nolonger I myself who doit, but it is sin living inme.
  14. 14. Romans 718 I know that nothing goodlives in me, that is, in mysinful nature. For I Me (Old Self) have the desire to do whatis good, but I cannot carry itout. 19 For what I do is not thegood I want to do; no, the evilI do not want to do Sin - this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do notwant to do, it is no longer Iwho do it, but it is sin living in me that doesit.
  15. 15. Romans 7 Christ 21 So I find this law atMe (New work: When I want to do Self) good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner Inner Being being I delight in Gods law;
  16. 16. Romans 723 But I see another Me (Old Self) law at work in the members of my body, waging war against Sin the law of mymind and making mea prisoner of the lawof sin at work within my members.
  17. 17. Romans 7 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Old Man 25 Thanks be to God - through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, “The Body I myself in my of death” mind am a slave to Gods law,Christ but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. Romans 8 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
  18. 18. The Old Man & New Man are still both called “ME” But from God’s perspective He knowsOld we will one day be freeMan from the body and delivered from the “old man” all together. He sees us as “In Christ” free from the sinful nature
