StonePolySphere is an installation that investigates the potential of digital fabrication applied to the
stone industry. It is a lithic sphere with a diameter of 1400 mm (55.1’’) composed by a massive
hemisphere below and a stereotomic hemisphere above.
The bottom part was made by machining a single block of “Bleu de Savoie” stone. The top part is
made of 120 small blocks made from slabs of different colors and thicknesses assembled manually :
“Bleu de Savoie” and white stone from Angola. The CNC machine TC 1100, produced by Thibaut SA,
allows the complex machining of all the parts.
The Polysphere weighs 2.7 tons (5400 pounds), has a diameter of 1400mm / 55.1’’ and required
170 hours of programming, machining and assembling. The top part especially needed advanced
know-how and time: 60 hours of milling and sawing the small blocks and 60 hours of assembling and
finishing.

« I like the idea to design pieces meant to be seen from every single corner. Pieces that will stand in the middle of the room
and will reveal a different aspect depending on from where one will look at it », says Christophe Delcourt.
« With JAZ, I was also very keen on showing the contrast between the high density of the material, counterbalanced with a
shape almost evoking the lightness of a dance step.
I have been completely enchanted by the unique beauty and the strong contrast of « Grand Antique d'Aubert ». For more
than 70 years, this French quarry was closed and it was recently reopened. This stone is part of many european
masterpieces such as Westminster Abbey, San Marco in Venice or les Invalides in Paris. Its also was Jacques-Emile
Ruhlmann's favorite material. No need to say that I had to make it mine in some ways not to feel too much overwhelmed by
the weight of such a legacy !
I then designed JAZ as a monolith, as if it was a one and only piece of stone that would have been carved and faceted.
Thanks to the expertise of the stonecutter, we created the illusion of a polished block, with soft edges and not a single
sharp corner. Lastly, I wanted JAZ do be a multi-faceted piece in either ways : from a technical point of view, but also from a
functional perspective. It's a sculpture, as well as a console, a desk or a vanity ».

5-6-7 December 2017
Discreet as well as daring, Christophe Delcourt is above all a great defender of french arts
and crafts.
The designer launched his own furniture company in 1995 and soon stood up with his work mixing
elegant lines and raw materials. For him, each new piece of furniture is a constant opportunity to
consider his job with a new point of view, but always with the same passion and the same creed :
everything results of the material and the gesture.
An attention to every single detail that people can see in each of his pieces of furniture or lightings,
in this subtle blend of rigor and sensuality, in his continuous search of excellence, in his
undeniable expertise of the material itself – whenever it comes to wood, brass, marble, leather or
fabric that he shares with the workshops he entrusts his designs to.
This exigence quickly allowed him to reach an international clientele made up of private clients,
architects and interior designers. For them, he designs exclusive pieces as well as customized
versions of the many pieces of furniture that enriched his catalogue over the years.

An harmonious fusion of nature, technology, craftsmanship and creation, the DROP dining table extends its
own lines by offering an organic and contemporary vision of the mineral material (white Sivec marble).
The legs, which are turned in one piece, embody the idea of emanation (stalactite) and give life to a form of
tray with sober, light and elegant lines, the stone of which is laminated to an aluminium honeycomb
structure, lightweight, durable and high performance composite material.
The search for lightness is at the heart of the DROP project, Brocatelle’s aim is reached : the table top
weighs only 24kg. This top is composed of a 5mm thick marble layer reinforced on the underside by an
aluminium honeycomb sandwich with two epoxy layers. This process is developed at Brocatelle’s workshop.
DROP is also the combination of accurate assembly & bonding techniques, fine finishes (graphic effect on
the « capitals » of the table legs – inlay of the grey line, visual symbol of the SMOOOTH brand) and of an easy
disassembly system for the legs.
DROP is an audacious blending of innovation and traditional know-how.

DROP, where lightness meets elegance
Brocatelle’s innovative technological processes highlight Adrien de Melo’s creative vision
Designer and interior architect, Adrien De Melo builds his formal language around organic and graphic lines,
with the requirement of a union between the know-how of industry and crafts. His creations are getting close to
formal limits and design & archirecture methods in order to think and highlight the created projects.
Today, he collaborates with editors (ROCHEBOBOIS), decorators, industrialists, galleries (galerie BSL - Paris,
VALERIE GOODMAN GALLERY - New York) and private partners for in/outdoor furniture design, objects and product
development & concepts, scenography and interior design.
During several years, Adrien De Melo has collaborated on many creations with architects such as Franck O. Gehry,
Didier Fiuza Faustino, Périphériques, GPAA ; different contemporary artists such as Dan Graham, Daniel Buren,
Subodh Gupta, Camille Henrot, Claude Levêque, Bertrand Lavier, Kader Attia, Michelangelo Pistoletto, or Peter
Kogler for construction objects in public and private spaces, and exhibition projects.
« I like to create objects as simple architectures, sober and warm which would show, in the blink of an eye, both their
intimate construction and the idea of a possible fiction. Every projet is for me a time of experimentations and of
metaphorisation of the fine work, where, in a balance point, which is also a breaking point, the strength of the
materials and shapes involved are revealed. »

Le fruit d’une collaboration entre l’Association Granit et Pierres du Sidobre et Thomas Dumoulin

5-6-7 December 2017
The Association Granit et Pierres du Sidobre is pleased to present the work of a young designer, Thomas Dumoulin.
The creation of this work is part of a collaboration carried out for a year by the association, with 6 talented young
designers. Impressed by the qualities and aesthetics of this noble material, and yet little present in our interiors, they took
up the challenge to magnify it by creating a range of decorative furniture.
For the first time, the artisans of Sidobre have opened their doors to these designers, to allow them to express themselves
through the granite. The other materials present in their works, copper, iron or steel, wood, are there to sublimate it.
The Garde-Manger Parti Pris is the result of a collaboration between Philippe Passemar, a granite artisan, and a talented
designer, Thomas Dumoulin, who wished to exploit the original features of the granite. The Garde Manger, Parti Pris, offers
an art of living. The raw and cold granite appears as evidence for the preservation of food. Allied here to oak and steel,
granite plays with time and reconnects with traditions by submitting another idea of consumption.
It is one of the creations of Thomas Dumoulin, among those imagined for the Association Granit and Pierres du Sidobre.
All the works of the designers were exhibited during the Paris Design Week, from 08 to 13 September 2017.
The jury wished to present this project by Thomas Dumoulin, which certainly does not meet the condition "80% natural
stone" but uses in a new way the granite in association with other beautiful local materials.

LE GARDE-MANGER Parti pris
Le fruit d’une collaboration entre l’Association Granit et Pierres du Sidobre et Thomas Dumoulin
After attending a cabinetmaking and furniture design course at the Saint-Luc Institute in Tournai (Belgium),
Thomas Dumoulin founded his workshop in Lille in 2013 and then in Tours.
Sensitized from the earliest age to the apprehension of forms, colors and balance by a grand-father artist ,
it is through heteroclite sources of inspiration (architecture, painting, design, sculpture ...) that takes shape
today the fabric of his creations.
Thomas Dumoulin searches and uses the emotion that the object can cause in the broad sense, and
declines its characteristics towards an interior, an ambience, a piece of furniture. He sees his environment
as a large cabinet of curiosities.
Each piece is imagined to fit into a more global design, an art of living in which objects are not limited to a
function but whose aesthetics and arrangement also participate in forming a poetic ensemble.

Marbrerie Provençale marble workshop invites Rocalia's visitors to experiment its new
furniture concept. Massive seats in stone are movable to be oriented by users according to
the context, inside and outside.
The large back of this furniture can be oriented during the day to follow the sun journey.
Well place in a luminous space, this seat allows a peaceful moment.
The smooth shape of the back evokes stones you can find in a river's bed.
The stone, “Pierre Bleue du Hainaut”, is provided by Carrières du Hainaut.

“At the beginning of my studies, I had the chance to experiment glass material. Since
this experience, I’ve developed a design process which consists in enhancing craft
skills. This way of thinking leads me to collaborate with local craft workshops in order
to tell the singularity of a company, a material or a territory in a creative way.
In my opinion, in order enhance a material, each designed object must also benefit
from a high degree of technical expertise.
This is why all of my design research of uses and shapes are systematically supported
by volumetric experiments. This is a way for me to find technical innovations when I
work with a specific workshop.”

Mireille Arnaud obtained her Master in Industrial Design at the University of Compiègne in 2005. Her decorative
objects are a synthesis between functionality and a cultural anchoring.
Since then she has worked successively for Icarus Design and Foley design in Bangalore, India. Still in India, she
started independently and continued her practice as an industrial designer while developing a know-how with
craftsmen. She trained her own team of sculptors and collaborated with architects and landscapers.
Back in France in 2011, she founded the collective Miscéo and co-edited a collection of objects made in the
south of France. This work leaded to manufacture customized objects for individuals in collaboration with the
members of the collective.

In January 2016, she set up her own small firm, Au’Design Concept, which has two specialities:
interior design and the creation of furniture.
For interior design, the young entrepreneur works as well in new buildings as in restoration, for
private individuals as well as professionals – hotels, restaurants, retirement homes…
She works with GOMET Granit and in particular with Mr. Olivier GOMET. “Black Office” was
born amongst other things, from this collaboration.

Associated partner : StonePolySphere, The alliance between THIBAUT technology and Maurizio Barberio & Giuseppe Fallacara’s design Exhibitor : Thibaut Stand : 6D30 Designers : Maurizio Barberio and Giuseppe Fallacara Photo credit : Maurizio Barberio 5-6-7 December 2017 StonePolySphere is an installation that investigates the potential of digital fabrication applied to the stone industry. It is a lithic sphere with a diameter of 1400 mm (55.1’’) composed by a massive hemisphere below and a stereotomic hemisphere above. The bottom part was made by machining a single block of “Bleu de Savoie” stone. The top part is made of 120 small blocks made from slabs of different colors and thicknesses assembled manually : “Bleu de Savoie” and white stone from Angola. The CNC machine TC 1100, produced by Thibaut SA, allows the complex machining of all the parts. The Polysphere weighs 2.7 tons (5400 pounds), has a diameter of 1400mm / 55.1’’ and required 170 hours of programming, machining and assembling. The top part especially needed advanced know-how and time: 60 hours of milling and sawing the small blocks and 60 hours of assembling and finishing. • 4. Associated partner : « I like the idea to design pieces meant to be seen from every single corner. Pieces that will stand in the middle of the room and will reveal a different aspect depending on from where one will look at it », says Christophe Delcourt. « With JAZ, I was also very keen on showing the contrast between the high density of the material, counterbalanced with a shape almost evoking the lightness of a dance step. I have been completely enchanted by the unique beauty and the strong contrast of « Grand Antique d'Aubert ». For more than 70 years, this French quarry was closed and it was recently reopened. This stone is part of many european masterpieces such as Westminster Abbey, San Marco in Venice or les Invalides in Paris. Its also was Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann's favorite material. No need to say that I had to make it mine in some ways not to feel too much overwhelmed by the weight of such a legacy ! I then designed JAZ as a monolith, as if it was a one and only piece of stone that would have been carved and faceted. Thanks to the expertise of the stonecutter, we created the illusion of a polished block, with soft edges and not a single sharp corner. Lastly, I wanted JAZ do be a multi-faceted piece in either ways : from a technical point of view, but also from a functional perspective. It's a sculpture, as well as a console, a desk or a vanity ». JAZ, the revival of the Grand Antique d’Aubert marble The material becomes the link between Christophe Delcourt’s creative talent and Brocatelle’s marble expertise Exhibitor : Brocatelle Stand : 6B22 Designer : Christophe Delcourt Editor : DELCOURT COLLECTION Photo credit: Pierre Even 5-6-7 December 2017
  • 5. Associated partner : JAZ, the revival of the Grand Antique d’Aubert marble The material becomes the link between Christophe Delcourt’s creative talent and Brocatelle’s marble expertise 5-6-7 December 2017 Discreet as well as daring, Christophe Delcourt is above all a great defender of french arts and crafts. The designer launched his own furniture company in 1995 and soon stood up with his work mixing elegant lines and raw materials. For him, each new piece of furniture is a constant opportunity to consider his job with a new point of view, but always with the same passion and the same creed : everything results of the material and the gesture. An attention to every single detail that people can see in each of his pieces of furniture or lightings, in this subtle blend of rigor and sensuality, in his continuous search of excellence, in his undeniable expertise of the material itself – whenever it comes to wood, brass, marble, leather or fabric that he shares with the workshops he entrusts his designs to. This exigence quickly allowed him to reach an international clientele made up of private clients, architects and interior designers. For them, he designs exclusive pieces as well as customized versions of the many pieces of furniture that enriched his catalogue over the years.
  • 6. Associated partner : An harmonious fusion of nature, technology, craftsmanship and creation, the DROP dining table extends its own lines by offering an organic and contemporary vision of the mineral material (white Sivec marble). The legs, which are turned in one piece, embody the idea of emanation (stalactite) and give life to a form of tray with sober, light and elegant lines, the stone of which is laminated to an aluminium honeycomb structure, lightweight, durable and high performance composite material. The search for lightness is at the heart of the DROP project, Brocatelle’s aim is reached : the table top weighs only 24kg. This top is composed of a 5mm thick marble layer reinforced on the underside by an aluminium honeycomb sandwich with two epoxy layers. This process is developed at Brocatelle’s workshop. DROP is also the combination of accurate assembly & bonding techniques, fine finishes (graphic effect on the « capitals » of the table legs – inlay of the grey line, visual symbol of the SMOOOTH brand) and of an easy disassembly system for the legs. DROP is an audacious blending of innovation and traditional know-how. DROP, where lightness meets elegance Brocatelle’s innovative technological processes highlight Adrien de Melo’s creative vision Exhibitor : Brocatelle Stand : 6B22 Designer : Adrien De Melo Editor : SMOOOTH by Brocatelle Photo credit : Brocatelle 5-6-7 December 2017
  • 7. Associated partner : DROP, where lightness meets elegance Brocatelle’s innovative technological processes highlight Adrien de Melo’s creative vision Designer and interior architect, Adrien De Melo builds his formal language around organic and graphic lines, with the requirement of a union between the know-how of industry and crafts. His creations are getting close to formal limits and design & archirecture methods in order to think and highlight the created projects. Today, he collaborates with editors (ROCHEBOBOIS), decorators, industrialists, galleries (galerie BSL - Paris, VALERIE GOODMAN GALLERY - New York) and private partners for in/outdoor furniture design, objects and product development & concepts, scenography and interior design. During several years, Adrien De Melo has collaborated on many creations with architects such as Franck O. Gehry, Didier Fiuza Faustino, Périphériques, GPAA ; different contemporary artists such as Dan Graham, Daniel Buren, Subodh Gupta, Camille Henrot, Claude Levêque, Bertrand Lavier, Kader Attia, Michelangelo Pistoletto, or Peter Kogler for construction objects in public and private spaces, and exhibition projects. « I like to create objects as simple architectures, sober and warm which would show, in the blink of an eye, both their intimate construction and the idea of a possible fiction. Every projet is for me a time of experimentations and of metaphorisation of the fine work, where, in a balance point, which is also a breaking point, the strength of the materials and shapes involved are revealed. » 5-6-7 December 2017
  • 8. Associated partner : LE GARDE-MANGER Parti pris Le fruit d’une collaboration entre l’Association Granit et Pierres du Sidobre et Thomas Dumoulin Exhibitor : Granit et Pierres du Sidobre Stand : 6F20 Designer : Thomas Dumoulin Photo credit : Thomas Dumoulin 5-6-7 December 2017 The Association Granit et Pierres du Sidobre is pleased to present the work of a young designer, Thomas Dumoulin. The creation of this work is part of a collaboration carried out for a year by the association, with 6 talented young designers. Impressed by the qualities and aesthetics of this noble material, and yet little present in our interiors, they took up the challenge to magnify it by creating a range of decorative furniture. For the first time, the artisans of Sidobre have opened their doors to these designers, to allow them to express themselves through the granite. The other materials present in their works, copper, iron or steel, wood, are there to sublimate it. The Garde-Manger Parti Pris is the result of a collaboration between Philippe Passemar, a granite artisan, and a talented designer, Thomas Dumoulin, who wished to exploit the original features of the granite. The Garde Manger, Parti Pris, offers an art of living. The raw and cold granite appears as evidence for the preservation of food. Allied here to oak and steel, granite plays with time and reconnects with traditions by submitting another idea of consumption. It is one of the creations of Thomas Dumoulin, among those imagined for the Association Granit and Pierres du Sidobre. All the works of the designers were exhibited during the Paris Design Week, from 08 to 13 September 2017. The jury wished to present this project by Thomas Dumoulin, which certainly does not meet the condition "80% natural stone" but uses in a new way the granite in association with other beautiful local materials.
  • 9. Associated partner : 5-6-7 December 2017 LE GARDE-MANGER Parti pris Le fruit d’une collaboration entre l’Association Granit et Pierres du Sidobre et Thomas Dumoulin After attending a cabinetmaking and furniture design course at the Saint-Luc Institute in Tournai (Belgium), Thomas Dumoulin founded his workshop in Lille in 2013 and then in Tours. Sensitized from the earliest age to the apprehension of forms, colors and balance by a grand-father artist , it is through heteroclite sources of inspiration (architecture, painting, design, sculpture ...) that takes shape today the fabric of his creations. Thomas Dumoulin searches and uses the emotion that the object can cause in the broad sense, and declines its characteristics towards an interior, an ambience, a piece of furniture. He sees his environment as a large cabinet of curiosities. Each piece is imagined to fit into a more global design, an art of living in which objects are not limited to a function but whose aesthetics and arrangement also participate in forming a poetic ensemble.

Since this experience, I’ve developed a design process which consists in enhancing craft skills. This way of thinking leads me to collaborate with local craft workshops in order to tell the singularity of a company, a material or a territory in a creative way. In my opinion, in order enhance a material, each designed object must also benefit from a high degree of technical expertise. This is why all of my design research of uses and shapes are systematically supported by volumetric experiments. This is a way for me to find technical innovations when I work with a specific workshop.” Gaëtan Didier EROSION, Deck chair Designed by Gaëtan DIDIER, manufactured by Marbrerie Provençale. 5-6-7 December 2017
