Writing Tableau Polygons with FME

  1. 1. Jubal Harpster Principal SpatialDev International April 12, 2013
  2. 2. Tableau  Tableau has an extremely fast BI engine but with limited spatial capabilities  Not a GIS  No spatial analysis tools  Links to almost any non-spatial BI database  Firebird, SSAS, Netezza, Postgres, Hadoop, Teradata  Charts, graphs, tables, roll-ups, etc. But No Mapping!
  3. 3. So What’s the Issue?  Tableau does not natively read any spatial format  Everything in Tableau is a table WMS? Not Exactly
