A digital twin is a dynamic, up-to-date virtual representation of a physical object or system (Autodesk, 2022).
Digital Twins allow for a better understanding of user needs, easier product improvement and troubleshooting, and ultimately more innovative and strategic decisions across your organization.
But how do you easily connect various data sources together to power a Digital Twin? That’s where FME comes in.
FME allows you to easily connect your data sources and power the flow of data into this virtual representation. FME is a vital tool when bringing your disparate data sources together into a Digital Twin, all while maintaining data interoperability.
Join us for an introduction to both the concept of Digital Twins and real-life examples of how you can maximize the potential of this technology across many industries including AEC, government, utilities, and transportation.
This webinar will feature special guest Randy Murphy from Arora Engineers, Inc. who will present on how his company has been able to use FME to trace data sources, including CAD and BIM, as they are transformed and brought into Digital Twins technology to meet the specific needs of users.
Digital twins is the way of the future for businesses. Register now to learn how you can make the most of them and achieve a competitive advantage in your industry.

18. Why is this Important?
• Estimates that the world will need to spend $57 trillion on infrastructure through
2030 to keep up with global GDP growth 1
• Large construction projects typically take 20 percent longer to finish than
scheduled and are up to 80 percent over budget 1
• Construction industry is ripe for disruption and two of the technologies that it
believes will be key in that anticipated transformation are geospatial and BIM 1
• The big payoff of a digital model will be during operations and maintenance,
which typically represents 80% of the cost of a facility 2
• It can take the operator of the facility a year to go through this information to
find the information required to operate the facility 3
• For many types of equipment the highest probability of
failure is in their first month or two of operation 3
• Integration of geospatial and BIM is essential to
address the challenges of the 21st century 3
