Dating Friend or Lover: Ask Karinna

  1. 1. Dating Friend or Lover Today's question is from F. "After the second date with the man that I like, he asked that we be friends. We continued seeing each other as friends. I realized I'm attracted to him. Should I say something or is a man's mind made up once he sees you as a friend?" Well, F you have found yourself in a really challenging moment in your dating life. You really like someone that you met and you have a good friendship but you feel deeper feelings. You want more out of this relationship and he has communicated to you that he wants to be friends. I always say look at what is happening in the beginning. The beginning dictates the end result. So, that's number one. He's told you he wants to be friends. Second, I would trust that intuition. I would speak up and I would communicate that you see something else in the relationship, that you have deeper feelings for him and you would like it to be more of an intimate relationship. By speaking up, you create a space to have a very healthy, honest conversation with him about the state of your relationship and what's really possible. He may have decided that he wants to be more than friends or you may hear again an affirmation that he just wants to be friends. With this insight and clarity, you know what the next steps are for you. It's important to not invest your time, your energy, your heart into a relationship that you are projecting more on to than is actually there. So, once you have this conversation, you will take your power back and you'll be able to make clear conscious decisions about the healthiest next move for you.
