The dreaded “P” Word: <ul><li>What is plagiarism? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>“ If you quote more then two consecutive words from someone else, summarize a passage or use someone else’s ideas” (OWL at Purdue) </li></ul></ul><ul><li>How do we avoid it? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Give credit to the source of information! </li></ul></ul>

How do I do Parenthetical Citation? <ul><li>For a book - Put the authors name and page info was found on it parenthesis after the quote. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>“ One Researcher has found that dreams move backward in time as the night progresses” (Dement 71). </li></ul></ul><ul><li>If you mention the author in the sentence then only the page number needs to be place in parenthesis </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Freud states that “a dream is a fulfillment of a wish” (154). </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Website – Place the name of the webpage in parenthesis </li></ul><ul><ul><li>“ Don't forget Senior quotes are due at the end of November.” (Segerstrom High School) </li></ul></ul>
