September 1996<br />Hurricane Fran hit Raleigh, NC<br />
Friends came together to help each other.<br />
Friends “SWOOPed” in to clean up.<br />
Then SWOOPers began to reach out to others in the community.<br />
SWOOP acquired 501(c)(3) status in 2001, and the group of 12 has grown to over 1200.<br />
SWOOP volunteers in action helping local non-profits.<br />
