1. GENE BOSWELL BIOGRAPHY
Born 5/7/38 Died 11/26/79 Age 41
Information from Gary Boswell, Gene’s younger brother.
Here’s Gene’s story in short form: Following graduation from SHS, Gene
went to North Texas State for 1 – 2 years and then transferred to Texas
Western in El Paso (UTEP now). He valet parked for tips at Sunland Race
Park while he finished school at El Paso with a BS in Geology and Chemistry
(1960 – 61?). He married about that time and he and Billie had a son Mike in
May, 1962. They divorced around 1966; Billie stayed in El Paso and Mike &
wife, one child, live in Austin. Gene (now single) supervised a mercury mine
for Anchor Mining for a few years in Terlingua, TX, got married during that
time, and moved new bride to Terlingua. They stuck it out in Ter. about a year
until sometime around 1970 when Gene went to work for Baroid in their oil
field chemicals group. With Baroid he worked in South Texas, Libya (I was
there also), Netherlands, and Midland until about 1978 when he went to work
for Sohio in Anchorage, Alaska. By this time he and Judy had two girls. Gene
had a massive heart attack in Anchorage on November 26, 1979 and is buried
in the Boswell family plot at Hamilton Cemetery in Corsicana, TX.
Corrections in Blue above come from other sources.
Information from Judy Boswell, Gene’s Widow
Gene did not attend to Texas Tech, but did attend North Texas prior to transferring to Texas Western
College to major in geology and chemistry. Texas Western College later became UTEP. He was
majoring in music at North Texas and originally planned to become a band director.
If it’s not too late to add a few lines, perhaps his two daughter’s names and the number of Gene’s
grandchildren could be added, etc. By the way, Toby and Addie both take after Jill, who really looked like
her Dad and still does.

Gene’s second wife is Judy, and they had two daughters, Gena and Jill.
I think Karen Steffler, Gene’s sister, wrote me that Gena has eight children under the age of twelve, and
Jill has two children. Jill looks like Gene and so do her children.
Judy, Gene’s widow is writing to Karen Ann about where he went to school, and where he lived.
I, Karen Davis, keep in touch with Karen Ann. I dated Gene my Junior and Senior year in high school.
Gene was a Freshman at North Texas, and was going to major in music and be a band director, he loved
music. Then his Sophomore year he transferred to El Paso, and got his degree in engineering. He never
went to Tech or lived in Lubbock. Judy, his widow, wrote to Karen Ann about his life, and children.
Jerald, I went to school with your brother Jack, and Shelly. I was at the reunion party at Joyce’s with
Shelly, that was when your dad was in the hospital.
I have been in touch with Gary, but not as much as Karen. However, I do not e-mail with his widow or
children.. I hope this helps.. Sorry for all the mix up.
