Live® ECONOMIC TALKING POINTS Consumer confidence maintains upward momentum despite stock market moves • The Conference Board’s measure of Consumer Confidence moved up to 137.9 from a revised 135.3 in September. The Present Situation Index also moved up to 172.8 from a revised 169.4, as did the Expectations Index to 114.6 from a revised 112.5. • The persistent strength of this confidence measure is evidence of the deep strength of the US economy and is a good sign for long term performance of commercial real estate.

Live® ECONOMIC TALKING POINTS Office market balanced and flat in third quarter, according to REIS • The latest quarterly REIS report showed vacancy remained flat quarter over quarter at 16.6% as rents rose modestly at 0.4%. While absorption was mixed, most markets, 69 out of 82 covered, experienced rising rents. • Overall the low rate of new supply, in most markets, appears to be keeping the overall market stable. Tenants are expanding their businesses, but just not using office space as intensely as in the past.
