Due to rising interest rate fears, equity markets have generally stumbled on each release. • Less discussed in the media, is the fact that many institutions are increasing their allocations to real estate. As a result, they see property as a natural long-term inflation hedge and relatively safe investment.

Live® ECONOMIC TALKING POINTS Freddie Mac re-enters the low income tax credit housing business with new fund • Freddie Mac has closed its first deal with a new LIHTC (Low Income Housing Tax Credit) fund that aims to deploy $400 million in 2018 and up to $500 million in 2019. • As market rate apartment rental rates slow in growth, affordable housing deals may be very profitable on a relative basis in the coming years. Especially, with new funding programs as the one discussed here become available.
