Live® ECONOMIC TALKING POINTS Real estate investors may be even bigger winners in tax cut bill • A recent GlobeSt.com article discussed how proposed rules and interpretations of the 2017 tax reform bill may benefit real estate investors. Specifically, the ability to claim the 20% pass-through business income deduction. • This could be a huge incentive to buy commercial real estate as an investment, especially for small scale investors who tend to be highly tax sensitive.

Live® ECONOMIC TALKING POINTS Homeownership rate rebounds in 2018 but still far from all-time highs • Census data shows that the US homeownership rate has been steadily gaining from its modern day low of 62.9% in 2015 to a level of 64.8% as of the end of 2018. • While some speculated that the millennial generation would avoid buying homes at the rate their parents did, the data suggests otherwise. The gains seen in 2018 come from rising economic fortunes, strong job markets, and aging millennials entering peak home buying periods.
