Live® ECONOMIC TALKING POINTS Institutional real estate returns flatten as income remains stable • NCREIF’s Property Index, a measure of unleveraged institutional real estate returns, produced a 6.7% total return in 2018 and 1.37% in the 4th quarter. The quarterly income return held stable at 1.11%, but the appreciation return fell to 0.26% from 0.56% in the prior quarter. • Overall, returns for all sectors are mostly stable except for Retail which finally turned negative due to store closures. Industrial’s surge has made up for most of that loss keeping the whole index intact.
