S.3.2 Low Level Service Platform and Remote System Management Service

  2. 2. www.sunshineproject.eu SUNSHINE - Smart UrbaN ServIces for Higher eNergy Efficiency (GA no: 325161) Components The services platform acts as the framework for all software components that are integrated in SUSNHINE. Base service platform has been deployed integrating existing solutions e.g. available through other EU projects.

  4. 4. www.sunshineproject.eu SUNSHINE - Smart UrbaN ServIces for Higher eNergy Efficiency (GA no: 325161) OGC standards • The OGC standard services are implemented by the following services: • GeoNetwork, offers CSW service to search and deliver metadata; • GeoServer, that exposes WMS services to produce maps, a WFS-T service to enable editing the attributes of buildings and, finally, the WPS that is fundamentally a container of processes that can be used in different points of the system. In particular the most important process is the “ecomap” calculator. With no additional effort, GeoServer can implement even simple WFS and WCS to access directly vector and raster data, but no need of this kind of service has emerged until now; • the SWE container; this is a virtual container that is represented by the shared technology (52°North) of the SOS and SPS server.

  6. 6. www.sunshineproject.eu SUNSHINE - Smart UrbaN ServIces for Higher eNergy Efficiency (GA no: 325161) Remote system management /1 • Gathers sensors data from lighting network or light points – energy consumption, instantaneous power, level of dimming, overall lighting time, bulb temperature … • Stores them in a normalized format into a repository from which they can be retrieved through a standard interface; • Sends operation instruction to the remote controllers that modify the state of the lamps (dimming level, switching on and off). • Two channels have been set up to communicate with remote lighting system: – a channel based on the Reverberi technology; – a channel centred on the SOS standard. Even the first channel finally relies on the SOS standard because both inbound and outbound data transit through the SOS services. http://www.reverberi.it/
  7. 7. www.sunshineproject.eu SUNSHINE - Smart UrbaN ServIces for Higher eNergy Efficiency (GA no: 325161) Remote system management /2 • SOS Server; it’s the server that implements several OGC standard service of the SWE suites. In particular Sensor Observation Service (SOS) included its transactional profile that allows storing sensor observation into the underlying SOS DB. • SPS Server; the server that implements the Sensor Planning Service (SPS) that is used as a common interface for tasking the lighting systems. • SOS DB; it’s a specific database schema implemented inside a PostGIS database and functional to the SOS Server. In its tables are maintained the readings sent by all sensors, including those integrated in the lighting networks. • SPS DB; in analogy with the SOS DB, this schema hosts the tables needed by the SPS service; • SPS drivers; they are developed components that allow transforming an SPS request into a specific set of instructions that depends on a particular technology of lighting systems. The drivers include one for transforming a SPS request into a Reverberi instruction and other to talk with the other technologies used by pilots. • RVRB Synchronizer; Reverberi technology relies on a MS SQL database where all data gathered from the lighting networks are stored and where also the actuating commands are deposited before being sent to the lamps. This component transfers the sensor observations from the RVRV DB to the SOS DB. • RVRB DB; a MS SQL schema where all the data related to the Reverberi technology are persisted. • RVRB server; service relying on Reverberi technology that receives readings from the gateways in the remote lighting networks. GPRS connection is used.
  8. 8. www.sunshineproject.eu SUNSHINE - Smart UrbaN ServIces for Higher eNergy Efficiency (GA no: 325161) Service components • Two types of OGC standard services are used in the communication, depending on the direction of flow: – for writing sensor reading, the SOS service is used, in particular the operations pertaining to the transactional profile (SOS-T) of the service; – for actuating commands on the lighting network, the SPS service is used.
  9. 9. www.sunshineproject.eu SUNSHINE - Smart UrbaN ServIces for Higher eNergy Efficiency (GA no: 325161) Integration with pilot infrastructures • Integration with pilots equipped with REVERBERI technology – for the pilots in Bassano, Cles • Integration with pilot technology in Rovereto
