  2. 2. Overview and Description  Yelp is an online “urban guide” and business review site.  Yelp helps people find the best businesses wherever they are.  Very useful during travel.  First hand reviews.  Over 100 million quarterly visitors.  Nearly 53 million reviews so far.
  3. 3. What Makes this Platform Unique  Reviews written by consumers, not management.  Can be used at anytime, anywhere with mobile app  Can help a person from Maryland spend their money properly while in California.  Overall Star Rating always up to date.
  4. 4. Yelp’s History  Founded in 2004 Jeremy Stoppelman and Russel Simmons.  Website began as an email service. Then started adding social networking in 2005.  Yelp has extended services to Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, and parts of Europe.  Google offered to buy Yelp out.  Publicly traded in 2012
