The State archives collection <ul><li>Archives: materials deemed to have long term cultural or historical value </li></ul><ul><li>Archives created by WA Colonial, State and Local Governments since 1829 </li></ul><ul><li>State Archives collection began 1945 </li></ul><ul><li>Currently 15km in State Records Office custody </li></ul>

Power to the people <ul><li>Microfilm scanners – allows clients to save images from microfilm to USB in tiff and jpeg format. </li></ul><ul><li>Client Copy Centre – allows clients to digitise files and volumes using camera stand and remote view software. Images saved to USB or CD. </li></ul>

Microfilm scanners <ul><li>Canon MS800 – first introduced with external CD drive. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Staff had to turn on drive and load software </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Staff often involved in identifying and burning images. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>USB allows clients to save directly to USB. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>So popular we had to establish time limits! </li></ul></ul>

Client Copy Centre <ul><li>Based on successful NAA digitisation on demand setup </li></ul><ul><li>Canon camera with remote capture and live view software </li></ul><ul><li>Copy stand </li></ul><ul><li>Clients can save to CD or USB drive </li></ul><ul><li>Again, so popular we had to introduce time limits. </li></ul>
