  3. 4. The State archives collection <ul><li>State Archives collection began 1945 </li></ul><ul><li>Currently 15km in State Records Office custody </li></ul><ul><li>Currently 35km in Agency custody </li></ul>

The State archives collection <ul><li>Archives: materials deemed to have long term cultural or historical value </li></ul><ul><li>Archives created by WA Colonial, State and Local Governments since 1829 </li></ul><ul><li>Archives generally over 25 years old </li></ul><ul><li>Not everything created is of long-term value </li></ul>

  6. 29. How to find archives in State Records Office <ul><li> </li></ul><ul><li>Organised by the Department who created the records in manual and online listings </li></ul><ul><li>File titles are searchable on online database - AEON </li></ul>
  7. 32. How to see material <ul><li>Register as a researcher – need ID </li></ul><ul><li>Order material in advance by phone or when in the Office or 24 -48 hours before by email </li></ul><ul><li>Digital cameras without flash are welcome </li></ul>
