From MADAGASKAR to the Rice Terraces of Ifugao:SRI validation and promotion in the province of Ifugao by ISAPA/SITMo
OVERALL OBJECTIVE• Encourage Ifugao farmers to continue maintaining their rice terraces
Specific Objectives• To show how SRI can improve farmer’s income• To train a core of farmer trainers on SRI• To produce appropriate materials for promotion• To scale up SRI validation and promotion in the province
Key Outputs• 275 Ifugao men and women were trained in the principles and practices of SRI• 110 pilot demonstration farms were established (10 per municipality)• Video documentation and project paper on SRI: the Ifugao experience• Improved incomes among the trainees and practitioners
