ONGOING ACTIVITIES (Cont’d) Designation Completed activities Internal and external communication • Participation to the SNDR and « Social Dynamic » workshops, organized by the Wageningen University (Holland), to the 2nd SRI video-conference, organized by the WB (Madagascar, Mali, India…) • Participation to the meeting of the Board of CDAM • Meeting of the SRI School Working Group • Presentation of the SRI school activities to FRAM teachers of the EPC Sainte Germaine in Mahabo/Mahitsy and to the EPP Isoavina/Ambanitsena • Discussions with development actors in other countries (Iran, Mali, Senegal, Sudan, Kenya, Bangladesh, France) • Collaboration with CTA for the publication of an information/ presentation/ introduction booklet on SRI (Agricultural and Rural Cooperation Technical Center ACP-EU) : positive answer from CTA for an edition in many languages, and dissemination in all ACP countries.

GSRI ACTIVITIES Designation Completed activities Pool of technicians : Workshop organized on April 8 - 9, 2010 at the Diantana Center, Antsirabe • A pool of 13 available technicians (+ 2 promoters) • Development of a common message to be disseminated on SRI principles • Useful discussions regarding regional realities and information on different levels of achievement of SRI operations • Improvement of the database/website feeding system • Contribution of the technicians in the update of the database (mapping of SRI operators, varieties…) • Capitalization through exchanges and information sharing; dissemination of results (field visit) • Strengthening collaboration between GSRI members and partners (MinAgri, suppliers…) • A stronger presence of the GSRI group at regional and national levels

GSRI ACTIVITIES Designation Completed activities Regional SRI platforms: GSRI presentation and platform establishment missions • 8 platforms in place: Menabe, Alaotra Mangoro, Amoron’i Mania, Haute Matsiatra, Vakinankaratra, Sofia, Diana, Sava • Collaboration and concertation between members within each platform : development of a regional SRI document • Future collaboration with the Peace Corps for the moderation of the platform by PCVs • Confidence of members regarding the future of SRI and GSRI (FRDA in Fianarantsoa, DRDR Alaotra Mangoro, DRDR Sofia, etc.)

GSRI ACTIVITIES Designation Completed activities SRI in village schools • Continuation of the development of learning and presentation materials • Constitution of an ad hoc working group • Meeting with UNICEF and DINEC • Identification of new voluntary schools Results: analysis of current difficulties -> adaptation of the strategy and of presentation methods: make children familiar with SRI through learning activities integrated into the official curriculum 8 schools selected so far Ongoing: indentification of one or two experimental school(s) for the next school year (after visits in Isoavina and Antanivony) Results: identification of difficulties, development of a new method, and of a new presentation tool Prospects: organization of an information/pedagogic training workshop Results: one expert identified (Catholic University of Lyon) and first contacts with ICM
